Tornado CC Vs Patidar CC

Jinja Oval

10:30am

The final before the final is finally here.

First placed Tornado CC take on second placed Patidar CC in what can be billed one for the books to write about. Though away from the capital Kampala, the fans will be treated to a mouth watering clash at the Jinja SSS cricket oval. The introduction of online scoring now available makes it possible for even those in Kampala to follow the action 80kms away.

Tornado CC who have spent two seasons trying to get back into Division One finally have the chance and all they have to do is to put together a string of good results right to the end. And if they can hold they might not only gain promotion to Div 1 but also win the bragging rights of Div 2 champions.

Trevor Bukenya and Cosmas Kyewuta currently occupy first and second in the bowling statistics with 24 and 22 wickets respectively. The pair have been key to Tornado and their exploits have seen them bowl out all their opposition all season long. No team has gone and saved a wicket or two against the the pair who have been ably assisted by Maxwell Torach and Ramathan Ochimi.

In brief, Patidar have to dig deep because this weekend, their batsmen are facing the cream de la cream of Division 2 bowling. It’s a no retreat no surrender situation for them. Hardik Patel will have to stay on that crease for long and hope his team mates can bat around him while he tries to get the runs. Innocent Mwebaze and Farid Dinani will have to stop Division 2 run leading scorer Brian Adriko from adding to his 244. A win for either side who currently share points will see them edge closer to clinching the trophy, and crowned champions of the division.

SKLPS Vs K.C. Budo CC

K.C. Budo Oval

10:30am

The K.C. Jubilewo rather Budo Cricket Club shall match its troops back home at the school oval to defend their bragging rights against a side that narrowly beat them in their last encounter.

Budo sit at the bottom of the Division 2 table with only single win in the entire season. As things stand, they have no hopes for redemption as relegation back into a Division they had triumphantly waltzed out of last year comes calling. They need to send a signal to their sponsors that they went down fighting looking for their second win of the season. Along with Nile, Budo sit rock bottom in the division and look destined for relegation.

Budo Skipper Abu Mayanja is optimistic about the game

We are not actually worried about relegation coz we know that we have enough talent in our wings to see us across the line.
Just like I earlier stated, we lost 4 close games in the first round that we should have won and that was largely due to the fact that we were not aware of our opponents. We hope to rectify that in the second round as we shall be knowing what our opponents are throwing at us so that we counter it accordingly.

Individually, am hoping our new signings in Epiangu and Oburu can deliver with bat and ball respectively in order to take the burden off our perennial performers in Taha, Thawi and Siminyu.

SKLPS sit in fifth place with 30 points, 17 clear of sixth placed Wanderers in the 8 team Division. Currently not scared of relegation and reservedly not eyeing the qualification tier of the table. They are banking on all-rounder Kara Meghji and Chetan Halai to contribute with the batting while Yogash Rabadiya spinning webs around the opposition batsmen.

Budo have rallied behind the services of Joel Siminyu and Ahmed Taha in the batting while Phillip Thawithamwira and Patrick Oburu have had supposed magic spells with that ball. Perhaps their undoing has been their ego on the field coupled with terrible fielding practices and lots of unfitness.
