Challengers CC 361/9 in 48 overs (Hamu Kayondo 181(137), Arthur Kyobe 88(64)) beat Tornado Bee CC 102/10 in 29.2 overs (Nicholas Kebba 27(69)) by 267 runs (DLS revised score 369)
Man of match: Hamu Kayondo 181(137)
Tornado Bee slumped to yet another defeat and this time at the hands of Challengers CC to hand them their second loss in a row in a space of seven days.
The Challengers won the toss and seeing that star all-rounders Deus Muhumuza and Roger Mukasa weren't on the team list, chose to bat first. They hoped to milk the runs out of a visibly weakened Tornado Bee side and everything fell into place as the Bees just could not handle the onslaught from the Challengers.
Kamu Kayondo was unbeaten on 181 off 137 balls, his career best score to date in the league, an extremely impressive feat not many have managed to replicate. Arthur Kyobe 88(64) was equally impressive in his batting showing all his doubters that he’s still got it. Challengers scored 361 for 9 wickets making this the second time the Bees concede 300 runs in as many games.
Without Roger and Deus to provide a backbone for the chase, the Bees were all bundled out for a little as 102 runs handing Challengers a 267 run victory. Nicholas Kebba's 27 off 69 balls did little to starve off the hunger in the Challengers’ bowling attack. The pair of Aneef Mohammed and David Wabwire combined to well to pick 7 wickets in just 12 overs to leave the Bees with no answers.
The rate at which the Bees are being picked on is something they will have to reevaluate in their foreseeable future. Any more losses will prove costly, and could see them slip further on the log. Challengers on the other hand will ride the high tide of form that they have so far exhibited and hope to contend for the championship provided that the likes of Aziz Damani and Kutchi Tigers can slip up.
