Nyakasura CC 304/5 Brian Asaba 85(69), Joseph Baguma 59*(76), Pascal Murungi 42(29) in 40 overs beat Karago CC 103/10 Musinguzi Joel 38(37) in 22.3 overs by 201 runs

Man of Match: Brian Asaba 85(69), 2 catches

Fort Portal hosted its 1st ever league game over the weekend with local boys Nyakasura CC taking on their immediate neighbors Karago CC in what many have come to call the Fort Portal Derby.

For both teams, playing on home soil meant that the perils of travelling would be mitigated, a very welcomed thought for either side. Both teams got to play in front of their home fans and had the opportunity to showcase what they always do on their travels. It was Nyakasura CC that stole the show on the day.

Nyakasura posted an astonishing 304 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 40 overs, the 1st team to cross the 300 mark in a Division 3 game. It was what anyone would call a good day in the office for them who took their chances well and saw off the challenge of the Karago bowlers. Brian Asaba stole the show for Nyakasura with a brilliant 85 runs coming off 69 balls. If chasing leather can be quantified, the boys of Karago did so in spades as Joseph Baguma 59*(76), Pascal Murungi 42(29), and Robert Ajuna 35*(29) all came to the fray to inflict their damage.

If chasing 300 runs was a hill to climb, Karago’s opening batsmen turned that climb to a mountain as the 1st four wickets all fell for a 50 runs. Joel Musinguzi’s 38(37) was all in vain as he ran out of batting partners on the other end. Charles Musomeza was at hand to deny Karago any chance at scoring runs that could mount a chase. He finished with 4 for 30 in 7 overs to cap off his team’s domineering performance over their opponents. Dan Amani then came on to clean the tail picking up 3 wickets in 9 balls.

Karago have been left licking their wounds and will have to regroup for their next fixture against an unbeaten Aziz Damani Development Team.
