Game One:
PREMIER CC vs PARTIDAR CC
PREMIER CC 140/10 in 19.3 overs (Rajesh Nair 24 off 17, T. Baraka 24 not out) lost to PARTIDAR CC 141/5 in 17.5 overs (Mustaq Ahmed 51 off 40, Hardik Patel 33 not out) by 5 WICKETS
Premier CC and Partidar CC locked horns in their opening fixture of the T20 season with Partidar emerging as the victor.
Premier won the toss and lived to regret that decision when they only managed 140 runs. Back then, 140 runs was a good T20 score, but in the fast paced and ever evolving format of the sport, a team would have to go big in every sense of the word if they are to set a defendable score.
It took Partidar all of 17.5 overs to chase down the target score of 140 sparing 13 balls and five wickets in the process. Mustaq Ahmed (51) and Hardik Patel ensured victory was sealed while dealing a blow to Premier in their opening fixture.
Game Two
WANDERERS CC v PREMIER CC
PREMIER CC 176/7 in 20 overs (Rajesh Nair 75 off 41, Phillip Arinaitwe 39 not out) beat Wanderers CC 137/8 in 20 overs (Michael Nuwagaba 30 off 19) by 39 runs.
After losing to Patidar in the morning, Premier met Wanderers in the afternoon and looked to redeem themselves for a poor show earlier.
Rajesh Nair (75) who won the toss for his team opted to bat first. His innings should have ended in as early as the third over when he was dropped at long on when he still had 9 runs to his name. He was then dropped another four time enroute to his unbeaten 75 runs.
Philip Arinaitwe added another 39 runs to see Premier reach 176 runs, a score they felt comfortable defending.
Wanderers were then made to rue missed chances when Abu Sseguya who opened the batting was sent packing without troubling the score in the first over. The rest of the Wanderers team then managed 137 runs.
Michael Nuwagaba (30) who made a return to the team after more than two months of absentia was the stand out performer for Wanderers. There were a few moments where the balls went flying but that was as good as it got with the instigators quickly dismissed after small feats of brilliance.
Premier will be happy to take the win after losing earlier in the day while the Wanderers will have to work hard to come out with something from their remaining fixtures.
