The only thing Aziz Damani failed to do this season was finish unbeaten, they lost by 3 runs to Olila Cricket Club this morning but the champions came back hard in the afternoon to win by 11 runs. Aziz Damani managed to win at least 9 out of 10 games as they clinched their 4th title in a row. The title came with a cash prize of 1M shillings.
In Kyambogo Soroti Challengers and Wanderers battled for second place with both teams stuck on 10 points apiece. Soroti Challengers managed to win the morning via two super overs as the sides couldn't be separated in the 1st game. That win moved Soroti Challengers into second place momentarily.
In the afternoon Wanderers was more composed as they closed out a 4 wicket win and reclaim second place because of a better net run rate. The highest finish for Wanderers since their promotion back to the top flight and they also earned themselves 500,000 for their efforts.
The curtain closing on the 2022 national women's T20 League. The Victoria Pearls will be traveling to Namibia on the 18th to take Namibia and Zimbabwe and the league was being used to give the ladies some good game time.
The 2022 season has seen a lot of notable performances from the youngsters coming through and the experienced national team players. Kevin Awino is getting comfortable at the top of the order and she was instrumental for Soroti Challengers and they missed her through injury for a couple of games. Phiona Kulume led from the front for Olila Cricket Club with both bat and ball, her teammate Rachel Acan was the most economical bowler throughout the season with an economy of 2.08. Mildred Anyingo put in another solid shift for Wanderers picking up a team-high 16 wickets while the returning Franklin Najjumba amassed a total of 136 runs with an average of 34 for Wanderers. Leona Babirye was the shining light for Pioneer with the bat in hand pushing her case for selection on the Victoria Pearls team. Youngster Achawo Sandra took her chance at the top of the order with Soroti Challengers scoring 143 runs in 10 innings, she was the third-highest run-scorer behind Kevin Awino and Gloria Obukor.
