Results Summary

K.I.C.C 204/7 in 42 overs (Falak Sher 44 off 62, Frank Nsubuga 30 in 19) beat STRIKERS CC 171/10 in 36.2 Overs (Perry Wazombe 64 off 78, Frank Akankwasa 26 off 34, Sirajje Nsubuga 25 off 37) by 33 runs.

Man of Match: Falak Sher (K.I.C.C)

With so much anxiety and anticipation amidst either teams, the 23rd was the day it had to go down as the STRIKERS tussled it out with K.I.C.C at the university oval in Kyambogo. Having lost the first round game to STRIKERS in a painful manner, KICC had nothing else on their minds except getting that revenge and maximizing points after a dramatic survival from relegation.

Strikers won the toss and took the ball first limiting K.I.C.C to a total of 204 runs in 36.2 overs. Falak Sher 44(62) and Wasim Butt 32(57) opened the batting for KICC and managed an 81 run partnership in just under 18 overs. Falak fell off the bowling of Sirajje (38/2 in 9 overs) who gave them the breakthrough the team needed.

In a space of 10 overs, K.I.C.C lost another three wickets for a paltry 34 runs leaving them at 115/4. Davis Karashani 31(48) partnered with Daniel Ruyange 21(28) to propel the score past 150 before Richard Agamire clean bowled them in the 36th and 38th over respectively. The energetic and hard hitting duo of Frank Nsubuga (30 in 19) and Micheal Ndiko (13 in 6) combined well to get another 41 runs in 20 balls to propel K.I.C.C to 204 in the allocated 42 overs (reduced due to early morning downpour)

With such a score set for the STRIKERS, it was up to the bowlers to defend the score and fortunately the odds were on their side as the STRIKERS collapsed and were all bowled out for 171 falling short of the target by 33 runs.

Fresh from the cranes tour of South Africa, Zephania Arinaitwe and Perry Wazombe opened the batting for STRIKERS. Zephania (17 off 12) was his usual self and wanted to score quick runs but his blitz was short-lived as he was caught by Falak Sher off the bowling of Suleiman Sharif (31/2 in 6 overs). Perry Wazombe took on the fight with a spirited performance scoring an extremely patient half-ton 64(78).

From then on, there wasn’t much support from the mid-order and tail-end as only Frank A 26(34) and Sirajje Nsubuga 25(37) made significant contributions. Falak and Davis then combined to rip through the tail-end, handing their team a 33 run victory over the strikers.
