SOROTI BLAZERS C.C Vs KARAGO C.C
KYAMBOGO OVAL
For the first time ever, both Soroti Blazers C.C and Karago C.C will face each other in the Jazz Safari Men’s League this Saturday at the University oval, Kyambogo. Both teams boast of local talent groomed from home (Soroti and Fort Portal), a handful of “expartriates” and with a lot to prove in the division and probably to one another.
In an instance where both teams will travel great distances to meet in Kampala, neither will want to brave the return journey home with a defeat. Soroti Blazers in the opening fixture made light work of JACC when they beat the latter by 140 runs. They were buoyed by the batting brilliance of Hillary Kutesa who had a memorable debut for the club top scoring with 85 (71), along with another debutant Ivan Kakande 36 (31) and 4/23 in 5.4 overs, scooping up the man of match award. Soroti Blazers will look to the experience of Kakande and Hillary to get them through this game.
Karago C.C, a team largely composed of students from Nyakasura High School in Fort Portal, have equally been impressive in their maiden appearance in the division. They opened their account by beating JACC and losing to Jinja S.S C.C, giving them a standing in the division. Karago C.C take every game as a learning moment for them since they come into these games knowing the results can go either way. Karago haven’t had stand out performances of note but each member of the team has contributed in their own way. If they can keep this up, then the results will soon be ticking their way as opposed to against them.
