Premier CC 133/10 in 34.4 overs (Peter Kituku 38 (65), Calvin Watuwa 21 (25), Henish Parmar 1/23 in 4.5 overs) lost to Kutchi Tigers CC 134/3 in 22.5 overs (Nanji Pindoriya 52 (57), Aezaz Kothariya 46 (48), Nanji Pindoriya 2/18 in 5.4 overs, Kanti Vekariya 3/22 in 8 overs) by 7 wickets
Nanji Pindoriya 52 (57) and 2/18 in 5.4 overs put on a show of class to out stage a lackluster Premier CC who set a meagre target score of 133/10 at the Lakeside Oval.
Bouncing back after a humbling defeat to Aziz Damani last weekend, the Tigers were out to have their roar heard in their immediate fixture. Premier CC was unfortunate enough to be on the receiving end of the Tigers’ bloodlust they idly sat back and were uninspiring in their batting innings. The on-form Nanji Pindoriya made strides with the bat and ball to ensure that his team was back in contention with a big win for them in these early stages of the Jazz Safari National Men’s League.
Premeir CC looked to have a steady start with the youthful pair of Calvin Watuwa 21 (25) and Peter Kituku 38 (65) holding their own to deny the Tigers’ bowlers a chance at picking early wickets in the first innings. This joy was however short-lived as their wickets eventually fell causing dominoes effect on the rest of the team with Nanji Pindoriya cleaning up the tail to limit Premier CC to a paltry score of 133/10. Despite a promising start, Kanti Vekariya’s tidy spell of 8 overs with figures of 3/22 made sure the brakes were applied when needed.
Needing 134 run to win, the Tigers’ showed intent to finish the game early showcased by a run rate of 5.95 per over to give them their required target as compared to Premier CC’s 3.87 per over. Nanji Pindoriya was again the center of attention when he made the Premier CC bowlers agonize in their defense of their score by scoring an unbeaten 52 run of 57 balls. He was ably partnered with Aezaz Kothariya who fell 4 runs short of a 50 with 46 of 48 balls. Both Nanji and Aezaz made light work of the Premier CC score to ensure a victory for the Tigers.
