Day Seven of the Great Lakes Men’s T20 at Lugogo Cricket Oval delivered contrasting outcomes, with Bunyonyi Warriors dominating Kyoga Avengers in the morning before Victoria Strikers underlined their resurgence with a commanding afternoon victory over Mburo Blasters.
Bunyonyi Warriors posted 184/9 after being put in to bat, led by Joseph Baguma’s 75 off 50 balls and Kyewuta Cosmas’ quickfire 36 off 15 deliveries.
Despite Gerald Olipa’s 53 off 24 balls in reply, Kyoga Avengers collapsed to 117 all out as Kassim Adam produced a devastating spell of 5/23 to seal a 67-run win for Bunyonyi Warriors.
The afternoon belonged to Victoria Strikers, who produced a dominant batting display to post 215/2.
Simon Ssesazi starred with an unbeaten 116 off 61 balls, well supported by Perry Wazombe (39) and captain Kenneth Waiswa (47), as Mburo Blasters were put under pressure from the start.
In response, Mburo Blasters fought through an unbeaten 79 from Steven Wabwose and 27 from Edwin Nuwagaba, but the target proved out of reach as Victoria’s bowlers held firm.
Pius Oloka (2/25), Eric Mukisa (1/33), and Jaffer Ochaya (1/34) combined to restrict Mburo to 171/5, sealing a 44-run win.
Victoria Strikers endured a difficult start, losing their opening three matches in the double round-robin stage.

After early setbacks against Bunyonyi Warriors, Kyoga Avengers and Mburo Blasters, Victoria regrouped and rediscovered winning form, registering key victories including a five-wicket win over Bunyonyi Warriors and dominant wins against Mburo Blasters.
They carried momentum into the latter stages, beating Kyoga Avengers by four runs and closing the group phase with a commanding 44-run win.
Their recovery under captain Kenneth Waiswa secured a strong push into the last game.
In the final game, Victoria’s resurgence was fully on display as Ssesazi’s brilliance once again set the tone, his explosive century earning him Player of the Match honours and reinforcing the Strikers’ late dominance in the tournament and only won the trophy on netrunrate as all 3 teams were leveled on 10 points.
