Match Summary

Tanzania Women 54/10 (19.5 overs)

Uganda Women 55/3 (12.3 overs)

Uganda won by 7 wickets

Victoria Pearls dominated Tanzania Women to claim a 7-wicket win in the 22nd match of the Emerging Nations Trophy at the Asian Institute of Technology Ground, Bangkok.

Tanzania Women, batting first, were dismissed for a meagre 54. Their innings never got going – small starts from several batters couldn’t be nurtured into any meaningful partnership.

The top contributions came from Fatuma Kibasu (10) and Nasra Saidi (9), but the rest of the batting order succumbed under pressure.

The collapses came at regular intervals. As loose balls and accurate bowling built mounting pressure, extras and run-outs added to the woes.

By the time the last wicket fell in the 19.5th over, the scoreboard told a stark story: 54 all out.

For Uganda, the bowling attack – especially Immaculate Nakisuuyi – was the main architect of the collapse.

Nakisuuyi picked up 2 for 12 in her four overs, maintaining a tight line and rhythm that disallowed any free strokes.

The rest of the contingent complemented her well, never allowing Tanzanian batters to settle.

Chasing 55, Victoria Pearls approached the target with calm efficiency. Captain Janet Mbabazi got them off to a brisk, responsible start, despite the loss of a couple of early wickets; the chase stayed firmly under control.

The key knock came from Esther Iloku, who remained unbeaten on 28, guiding the chase and ensuring the target was reached in just 12.3 overs.

With more than seven overs to spare, the win was emphatic. The final scorecard showed 55/3, an emphatic 7-wicket win.

This performance – especially from Nakisuuyi with the ball and Iloku with the bat – will boost confidence and help build momentum ahead of the last clash against Netherlands on Sunday.
