The Victoria Pearls produced a masterful, high-tempo performance to defeat hosts Capricorn Eagles by 17 runs in the grand final of the 2026 Capricorn T20I Quadrangular Series at the FNB NCG on Thursday afternoon.

Led by a captain’s knock from Janet Mbabazi and a clinical three-wicket haul from off-spinner Consylate Aweko, Uganda successfully defended a formidable total of 146 to lift the trophy on Namibian soil.
After the Capricorn Eagles won the toss and elected to field, Uganda’s top order set out with clear intent.

Opening the batting, Mbabazi anchored the innings with a brilliant 61 off 56 balls, striking nine boundaries. She found explosive support early on from Stephanie Nampiina, who smashed a rapid 27 off 16 balls (5 fours) to put the hosts under immediate pressure.
Following Nampiina’s departure at 62/1, Ritah Musamali joined her captain to maintain the scoring momentum.

Musamali struck an unbeaten 31 off 27 deliveries, while Esther Iloku added a quickfire 15* off 11 balls late in the innings to propel the Victoria Pearls to a commanding 146/3 in their allotted 20 overs.
Wilka Mwatile was the pick of the Namibian bowlers, taking 1/24.

In reply, the Capricorn Eagles began their chase steadily, with openers Sunè Wittmann (33 off 39) and Mezerly Gorases (27 off 23) putting on a 51-run opening stand.
However, the introduction of Uganda’s spin attack turned the tide.
Aweko provided the crucial breakthrough by having Gorases stumped by Iloku in the 8th over, before ripping through the Eagles’ middle order. The off-spinner finished with sensational figures of 3/20 from her 4 overs.

Youngster Malisa Ariokot provided vital support from the other end, picking up 2/25 – including the key wickets of Arrasta Diergaardt and Wilka Mwatile in consecutive overs.
With Sarah Walaza maintaining strict line and length (0/19 in 4 overs) and Asumin Akurut claiming 1/21, the Victoria Pearls choked the run flow in the closing stages.

The hosts were ultimately restricted to 129/6 in 20 overs, sparking joyful celebrations from the Ugandan contingent as the final ball was delivered.

The victory capped off an impressive week of international cricket for the Victoria Pearls in Windhoek, reflecting their growth, tactical execution, and composure in high-pressure tournament finals.
