Day 11 of the Cricket Uganda Men’s 50-Over League delivered dominant performances across the Gold, Silver and Bronze categories, with Tornado Bees stunning defending champions Kutchi Tigers CC, GM Sugar moving to the top of the table, and Chennai CC cruising to a massive victory in Bronze Group B.

Tornado Bees handed defending champions Kutchi Tigers CC their first loss of the season after bowling them out for a paltry 64 before cruising to a seven-wicket victory at Entebbe Cricket Ground.

After electing to bat, Kutchi Tigers struggled from the onset against a disciplined Tornado Bees bowling attack.

Hasin Ashani top-scored with 15 off 45 balls, while Steven Wabwose added 9 and Avnish Vekariya contributed 8, but the rest of the batting lineup failed to settle as wickets fell regularly.

Suleman Sharif and Jonathan Ssebanja starred with the ball, both picking up three wickets each to dismantle the Tigers’ batting lineup. Suleman returned figures of 3/24 in 10 overs, while Jonathan produced an economical spell of 3/13 in 10 overs. Cosmas Kyewuta added 2/11, with Cyrus Kibukamusoke and Hamid Munigwa claiming a wicket apiece as Kutchi Tigers were bundled out in 32.4 overs.

In reply, Tornado Bees lost a couple of early wickets but remained in control of the chase throughout. Anas Baig anchored the innings with an unbeaten 31 off 29 balls, including two fours and a six, while Roger Galiwango Mukasa added an unbeaten 15 to guide the Bees home comfortably.

Kutchi Tigers picked up wickets through Ghanshyam Ashani, Vekariya Kush Mahesh and Alpesh Hirani, but the low total offered little resistance as Tornado Bees reached the target in 17.5 overs.

GM Sugar vs Aboojo CC – GM Sugar Cricket Ground

GM Sugar: 243/9 (40.0 overs)
Aboojo CC: 76 all out (23.0 overs)

Result: GM Sugar won by 167 runs

GM Sugar produced a dominant all-round performance to thrash Aboojo CC by 167 runs at the GM Sugar Cricket Ground.

After being sent in to bat, GM Sugar recovered from an early setback to post a competitive 243/9 in their 40 overs. Bhavikkumar Kantilal Patel anchored the innings brilliantly with an unbeaten 102 off 112 balls, striking seven fours and a six.

Rahulkumar Pravinbhai Patel added a quick 33 off 31 balls, while Hetalkumar Chhotubhai Patel chipped in with 20 and Vinitkumar Chhaganbhai Patel contributed 19 as GM Sugar built partnerships throughout the innings.

Dan Keith Amani was the pick of the bowlers for Aboojo CC with 4/36, while Derrick Nyakahuma claimed two wickets.

Joseph Baguma, Lindon Mutengesa and Ivan Thawithemwira each picked up a wicket, although Aboojo conceded 39 extras which proved costly.

In reply, Aboojo CC collapsed under pressure and were bowled out for just 76 in 23 overs. Ivan Thawithemwira fought a lone battle with an unbeaten 50 off 74 balls, but the rest of the batting lineup struggled against a disciplined GM Sugar bowling attack.

Vinitkumar Chhaganbhai Patel struck early and finished with superb figures of 4/27 in 8 overs, while Henry Ssenyondo produced an economical spell of 3/10 in 6 overs. Nimeshkumar Bhupeshbhai Patel added two wickets as GM Sugar wrapped up a commanding victory.

GM Sugar moved to the top of the table in the Gold Category with 8 points from 5 games after registering their fourth win of the season. They have now won four matches and lost once in the campaign so far.

Avengers CC vs Kutchi Tigers B – Jinja SSS Cricket Ground

In the Silver Category, Avengers CC produced a disciplined all-round performance to defeat Kutchi Tigers B by 63 runs at the Jinja SSS Cricket Ground.

After electing to bat, Avengers CC posted 137 in 41.2 overs despite regular wickets falling throughout the innings.

Yashashvi Joshi top-scored with 24 off 38 balls, while Atul Rana played a valuable late innings knock of 34 off 41 balls that included three sixes. Abraiz Mir Ali added 20, with Timothy Kawanguzi contributing 14 runs.

Hitesh Bhudiya starred with the ball for Kutchi Tigers B, picking up 4/29 in 10 overs, while Jignesh Kerai claimed two wickets. Varsani Bharat, Jignesh Pindoriya and Chintan Kerai also chipped in with a wicket each.

In reply, Kutchi Tigers B struggled against a tight Avengers bowling attack and were bowled out for 74 in 25.4 overs. Jignesh Pindoriya offered the only major resistance with a quick 36 off 28 balls, including four sixes, while the rest of the batting line-up failed to build partnerships.

Yashashvi Joshi delivered a match-winning spell of 4/25 in 6.4 overs, while Christopher Kidega picked up 3/11 and Atul Rana added 2/6 as Avengers CC wrapped up a convincing victory.

Nile vs Ismaili Community – Florida Oval

The match between Nile and Ismaili Community was abandoned because the pitch was unplayable following the previous day’s downpour.

Nile was happy to take the point because it keeps them a place out side the relegation zone and they are now 5th with 4 points from 5 games, they have won 1, lost two and two no results.

BRONZE GROUP B

Result: Chennai CC won by 197 runs

In Bronze Group B, Chennai CC produced a commanding all-round performance to hammer Centurion A by 197 runs at Serenity Group CG.

After electing to bat, Chennai CC posted an imposing 272/7 in their 44 overs. Ratheesh S Pillai starred with a brilliant 93 off 86 balls, smashing 12 fours and 3 sixes to anchor the innings. Mohammed A K L Hakkem added a quickfire 46 off 39 balls, while Barath Balakrishnan contributed 38 at the top of the order.

Aneef Sha Mohamed chipped in with an aggressive 16 off 8 balls as Chennai accelerated in the latter stages.

Waheed Abdul was the pick of the bowlers for Centurion A with 3/38, while Aaron Adule and Fasi Villah claimed two wickets each.

In reply, Centurion A struggled from the start and were bowled out for 75 in 17.2 overs. Aaron Adule and Fasi Villah scored 13 runs each, but no batter managed to build a substantial innings as wickets fell regularly.

Barath Balakrishnan impressed with the ball, picking up 3/3 in 2 overs, while Narendra S.C Sekar and Ratheesh S Pillai claimed two wickets apiece. Chennai CC’s disciplined bowling attack wrapped up a dominant victory to secure maximum points.
