CU Women’s National League Day three Fixtures

The CU Women’s T20 National League Division One continues on Saturday with two key fixtures scheduled in Soroti and Jinja, as early-season momentum begins to take shape in a highly competitive campaign.

27th June 2026

Soroti City vs Olila – Soroti City Oval

A high-stakes Soroti derby headlines the day as Soroti City host Olila CC at Soroti City Oval, with both sides entering the contest in strong form after winning their opening matches.

Soroti City registered a double victory over Wanderers on Matchday One, while Olila also started brightly with wins against Jinja SS.

Recent history adds further intrigue to the contest, with the last three meetings between the two sides producing a balanced rivalry. Soroti City have won twice in that period, while Olila have claimed one victory.

In 2023, Soroti City edged Olila by seven wickets after chasing 81 in a composed run chase. The following season saw Soroti again prevail, defending 125 runs to win by 16 runs and assert control in another tight encounter.

However, Olila responded in the most recent major meeting, producing a commanding performance in the Lyca Women’s T20 final last year to secure a dominant nine-wicket victory and lift the championship title.

Soroti were restricted to 74 all out, before Olila chased down the target comfortably behind Esther Iloku’s unbeaten 32 and Asumin Akurut’s 25.

That emphatic win underlined Olila’s all-round strength on the big stage, while also marking a turning point in the rivalry.

A win for Olila in this latest meeting would further tilt the balance in their favour, while Soroti City will be determined to reassert control in front of their home supporters.

Beyond the cricket, the fixture carries added significance for the Soroti community, with the match providing opportunities for local involvement in officiating, scoring, ground preparation, and small-scale vendors who benefit from matchday activity.

Olila will once again look to their in-form batting unit, led by Esther Iloku and Phiona Kulume while Soroti City will rely on their experienced core featuring Janet Mbabazi, Proscovia Alako, Jimia Abdallah, and Naume Jane Amongin to anchor their response.

Jinja SS vs Wanderers – Jinja SS Cricket Oval

In the second fixture, Jinja SS host Wanderers at Jinja SS Cricket Oval in another intriguing Division One clash between two sides still searching for consistency early in the season.

Both teams lost on Matchday One, though Jinja SS managed to bounce back on Day Two with a victory over Tornado Bees, a result that will give them renewed confidence heading into this encounter. Wanderers, meanwhile, will be eager to respond after a slow start to their campaign.

The last meeting between these sides came in the 2023 UCA Women’s T20 League, where Wanderers edged Jinja SS by 13 runs in a closely fought contest. Wanderers posted 119/6, built around Rita Musamali’s fluent 47 and support from Naome Kayondo Bagenda, before restricting Jinja SS to 106/6 despite a steady 32 from Stephanie Nampiina. Sarah Walaza’s disciplined bowling proved decisive in the closing stages.

Two years later, both teams return with renewed ambition. Jinja SS will be again boosted by the presence Stephanie Nampiina, whose experience and form have strengthened their batting structure and leadership presence.

Her influence, alongside emerging talent in the squad, has added stability and belief.

Wanderers, however, remain a well-balanced unit and will look to Sonia Nampeera, who leads the MVP charts, to inspire another strong performance.

With both sides aiming to build early momentum in Division One, this fixture promises another tightly contested battle, where early dominance could prove decisive once again.
