Soroti Cricket Academy (SCA), marked a major milestone through its annual Cricket Carnival—highlighted by the first-ever Soroti Cricket Academy Charity Run.
The event successfully brought together sport, community engagement, and social impact, once again demonstrating how cricket serves as a powerful tool for development in the region.
The day began at dawn with a Charity Run through the streets of Soroti town. Participants took on 5km, 10km, and 21km routes, transforming the town into a moving symbol of unity and purpose.

Beyond promoting physical fitness, the run aimed to raise awareness about critical social issues affecting the community, including gender-based violence, early marriages, school dropouts, and sexual and reproductive health rights.
With over 220 runners participating, the message extended far beyond the finish line.
Winners in the various categories received SCA-branded shirts in appreciation of their efforts.
Funds raised from the Charity Run will directly support Soroti Cricket Academy’s ongoing programs, which focus on nurturing young talent through sport and education.
The event also created opportunities for local service providers, generating both social and economic value within the community.
As the day progressed, the carnival atmosphere shifted to the cricket field. Competitive matches took centre stage, beginning with women’s fixtures featuring SCA alumni competing against teams named after different areas of Soroti, including Nakatunya, Pamba, Campswahili, and Senior Quarters.

This was followed by an exciting men’s fixture between the Chairman’s XI and the Soroti Select XI, drawing strong community attendance.
A standout moment was the participation of former SCA trainees who are now members of the Victoria Pearls, highlighting the Academy’s long-term commitment to developing female talent and creating pathways to national representation.
The carnival also served as a platform for recognition and investment in the future.
Ten outstanding girls from the Academy’s alumni were awarded for excellence in cricket performance, discipline, leadership, and academic achievement.

In addition, a fundraising drive during the celebrations raised UGX 3 million dedicated to upgrading training nets—an important step toward improving infrastructure and enhancing player development.
Cricket Uganda’s Development Manager, Davis Turinawe, also presented a Cricket Uganda player-version jersey to Felix Musana, Chairman and Founder of Soroti Cricket Academy, as a gesture of appreciation for his outstanding leadership and dedication to promoting and expanding cricket in the Soroti region.

His team’s commitment to developing players and positively impacting lives both locally and nationally was widely commended.
This year’s carnival marked 11 years of Soroti Cricket Academy’s intentional work in using cricket as a tool for empowerment.
From the Charity Run to the matches, awards, and infrastructure support, every activity reflected a shared commitment to building opportunity, strengthening community, and creating lasting impact.
Through sport, Soroti Cricket Academy continues to shape lives, build dreams, and empower the next generation—both on and off the field.
