In a gripping finale at the Madera Oval, Senior Quarters Cricket Club were crowned champions of the 2025 Soroti Cricket Academy (SCA) Ladies 50-Over League, defeating defending champions Campswahili CC by just 11 runs.

The much-anticipated match saw Senior Quarters battle early setbacks before Iloku Esther’s composed 52 anchored them to a fighting total of 98 for nine.

Campswahili’s chase began steadily, but wickets tumbled at crucial moments.

Despite Naume Amongin’s resilient 34, her run-out turned the tide.

With every delivery in the dying overs thick with tension, Campswahili were dismissed for 87, sparking jubilant celebrations for Senior Quarters—proof that determination, not dominance, defines champions in Soroti’s cricketing heart.

Senior Quarters’ title run reflected remarkable consistency: five wins from six matches, amassing 10 points.

They opened the season with a five-wicket win over Nakatunya, followed by a 68-run victory against Pamba.

Their only setback came in a narrow two-wicket loss to Campswahili in the first round.

The second leg, however, was all redemption—beating Nakatunya by six wickets, Pamba by 36 runs, and sealing the title with that decisive 11-run triumph over Campswahili.

Elsewhere at the City Oval, half-centuries from Proscovia Alako (52) and Josephine Icumar (58) powered Nakatunya to 182 all out, defeating Pamba by 121 runs to finish third on four points.

SCA founder and chairman Felix Musana praised the league’s impact, commending players for their resilience and growth.

“This competition gives our girls valuable playing time and nurtures new leaders,” he said, highlighting young captains like Sara Tino (Campswahili), Malisa Ariokot (Senior Quarters), Lucky Agwang (Pamba), and Josephine Icumar (Nakatunya)”

National stars Janet Mbabazi, Phiona Kulume, Kevin Amuge, Sarah Akitenge and Proscovia Alako also inspired emerging players through mentorship, while the league created community opportunities—from local vendors to young umpires.
