The wait is over, tomorrow Saturday 18th April marks the start of the inaugural Boundary Banters T20 League, with Rounders and Centurion set to headline the opening fixture at Entebbe Cricket Oval.

Introduced by Cricket Uganda, the tournament is designed to give teams available to play on Saturdays more playing time in a relaxed, social-style competitive environment.
The league was birthed following discussions between Cricket Uganda Operations Officer Javillah Ninsiima and all club representatives, with a shared commitment to keeping the game active beyond the traditional structures.
It was agreed that Cricket Uganda will cater for ground preparation, while participating teams will jointly take responsibility for matchday costs, including officials and match balls.
Five teams confirmed participation in the inaugural edition: Rounders, Centurion, Africa Cricket Club, Tornado Bees, and Mukono Development.
In a unique twist, the competition allows flexibility in squad selection, with teams permitted to rotate players and even include cricketers from non-participating clubs, creating an inclusive and experimental playing environment.
The tournament will be played in a T20 format under a single round-robin system, where each team faces the other once.
Matchdays will feature two games, and the team finishing top of the table will be crowned champions.
Speaking ahead of the opening match, Zulu Walaza one of the managers and revivers of the current Rounders team said;
I would love to thank Cricket Uganda for the coordination efforts that the team at the secretariat has put in to ensure this tournament goes ahead as planned
He added,
There’s real excitement in our camp.
We’ve received the fixtures and we’re looking forward to getting things started this weekend against our comrades Centurion
Beyond competition, the Boundary Banters League offers a platform for teams across divisions to interact and test themselves.
Top-tier sides like Tornado Bees and Rounders will have the opportunity to experiment with combinations, while divison three sides; Centurion, Africa Cricket Club, and Mukono Development gain valuable exposure against higher-level opposition.
