Rita Musamali was the star of Game Day Four, scoring the only century of the Women’s Elite to guide Rapids to a tournament total of 165, keeping them alive in the competition.

Meanwhile, the Bujagali Rafters lost both matches on their second double-header day and now face the risk of missing out on a spot in the finals, with qualification no longer in their hands.

Itanda Kayakers continued their strong run at the Waterfalls Women’s T20 Elite League with a dominant 8-wicket victory over Bujjagali Rafters at Lugogo Cricket Oval.

After winning the toss and opting to bowl, the Kayakers produced a ruthless bowling performance that dismantled the Rafters for just 72 runs in 18.3 overs.

The innings never gained momentum as wickets fell at regular intervals under sustained pressure.

Stephanie Nampiina top-scored for the Rafters with 21 off 24 balls, striking three boundaries, while Irene Alumo provided some late resistance with an unbeaten 11.

However, disciplined bowling and sharp fielding from the Kayakers kept the scoring in check throughout.

The standout performer was Michelle Ariago, who delivered a superb spell of 4 wickets for 13 runs, including a maiden over, effectively breaking the backbone of the Rafters’ batting lineup.

She was well supported by Immaculate Nandera (2/19), Naume Jane Amongin (1/4), and Lorna Anyait (1/16) as the Rafters were bowled out inside 19 overs.

Chasing a modest target of 73, Itanda Kayakers made light work of the run chase.

Openers Jimia Abdallah Muhammed and Lorna Anyait put on a steady start before Anyait departed for 10.

Jimia anchored the innings with a calm, unbeaten 25 off 36 balls, ensuring there were no late hiccups.

The chase was finished in style by Immaculate Nakisuuyi, who struck a blistering 20 off just 8 balls, including five boundaries, accelerating the Kayakers to victory in only 10 overs.

Blessing Apio (9) also chipped in before falling to a run out.

Itanda Kayakers reached 73/2, sealing an emphatic win and collecting 2 crucial points, while Bujjagali Rafters were left searching for answers after another challenging outing.

Karuma Rapids delivered a commanding all-round performance in the afternoon fixture of the Waterfalls Women’s T20 Elite League, overpowering Bujjagali Rafters by a massive 78 runs at Lugogo Cricket Oval.

Batting first after winning the toss, Karuma Rapids posted an imposing 165/4, built around a sensational innings from Rita Musamali, who produced a match-defining knock of 101 off 61 balls.

Her explosive innings featured 19 fours and a six, as she dominated the Rafters’ bowling attack with a strike rate of 165.57.

After early wickets saw the Rapids slip to 23/3 inside four overs, Musamali steadied the innings and then accelerated relentlessly.

She was well supported by skipper Proscovia Alako, who remained unbeaten on 50 off 42 balls, ensuring the Rapids finished strongly in the latter stages.

For Bujjagali Rafters, Malisa Ariokot was the pick of the bowlers with 2/35, while Kevin Amuge chipped in with 1/17, but the attack struggled to contain the Rapids’ batting surge.

Chasing a steep target of 166, Bujjagali Rafters never found the momentum required.

Early wickets put them on the back foot, and despite a fighting 37 off 31 balls from Ariokot Malisa and a patient 28 off 51 from Ruth Mwanga , the required run rate continued to climb.

Karuma Rapids’ bowlers were disciplined and relentless, sharing the wickets to keep the Rafters in check.

Rashidah Tikabula (2/16) and Phiona Egaru Kulume (2/7) led the attack, while Patircia Malemikia (1/6) and Josephine Icumar (1/21) provided valuable support.

Bujjagali Rafters closed on 87/7 at the end of their 20 overs, falling well short of the target as Karuma Rapids sealed a comprehensive victory and collected 2 valuable points.

The tournament heads into its final day with one decisive group match remaining between Karuma Rapids and Itanda Kayakers. This clash will determine who joins Itanda in the final and who misses out.

Itanda Kayakers secure a finals spot with a win. Karuma Rapids must win to reach six points and keep their hopes alive, with net run rate then deciding whether they or Bujagali Rafters face Itanda in the final. If Karuma lose, Bujagali Rafters will advance automatically.
