Day Three of the Great Lakes Men’s T20 at Lugogo Cricket Oval delivered another high-energy double-header, with Kyoga Avengers holding their nerve in the morning fixture before Mburo Blasters extended their dominant run with a clinical chase inspired once again by captain Riazat Ali Shah.

Kyoga Avengers withstand Bunyonyi fightback to seal 21-run win

In the morning clash, Kyoga Avengers posted a competitive 163/7 after electing to bat first, setting the tone with a strong top-order effort and a late surge.

Conrad Lubwama fell early for 5, but Julius Okema anchored the innings with 37 off 45 balls.

Robert Owili added an aggressive 25 from 18 deliveries, while Junaid Khan contributed 13.

The innings gained real momentum through Juma Miyaji, who smashed 20 off just 9 balls, before Derrick Bakunzi stole the spotlight with a powerful unbeaten 45 off 22 deliveries, striking 5 fours and 3 sixes.

His late acceleration pushed Kyoga to a strong total.

Bunyonyi Warriors’ bowlers had moments of control, with Devansh Patel and Rayan Tendo picking up two wickets each, but they struggled to contain the late hitting.

Chasing 164, Bunyonyi Warriors started steadily through Devansh Patel (30 off 25) and Fred Achelam (37 off 26), but Kyoga’s bowling unit struck at key moments.

Junaid Khan and Richard Agamire picked up two wickets apiece, while Dan Keith Amani also chipped in with a crucial breakthrough.

Despite a late unbeaten 43 from Abu Seguya, Bunyonyi fell short at 142/6.

Mburo Blasters make light work of Victoria Strikers in 8-wicket win

The afternoon fixture saw Mburo Blasters continue their dominance, comfortably chasing 131 in just 12.1 overs to defeat Victoria Strikers by 8 wickets.

Victoria Strikers struggled despite several starts.

Pius Oloka struck a quick 34 off 16 balls, while Amos Ahurra (25 off 18) and Bosco Akena (22*) offered resistance.

However, regular wickets halted any momentum, with Shehran Ali claiming 3 wickets and Brighton Muganzi picking up 2.

Riazat Ali Shah also struck early with the ball, removing Simon Ssesazi, as the Strikers were bowled out for 130 in 18 overs.

In reply, Mburo Blasters wasted no time.

Charles Musemeza gave an early push with 9 off 5 balls, before Shehzad Khan and Riazat Ali Shah took complete control of the chase.

Shehzad smashed an unbeaten 54 off 32 balls, while Riazat delivered another commanding performance with 54 not out from 30 deliveries, hitting 6 fours and 3 sixes.
