Victoria Pearls endured a difficult outing in Bangkok as they suffered an eight-wicket defeat to Thailand Women in Match 18 of the ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy 2025 at the Asian Institute of Technology Ground.
After being sent in to bat, Uganda struggled to build any momentum against a disciplined Thai bowling attack that immediately seized control of the contest.
Early wickets disrupted the top order and denied the batting unit any chance to settle, creating pressure that never eased throughout the innings.
The only meaningful resistance came from Stephanie Nampiina, who held firm amid the collapse with an unbeaten 23 off 43 balls.
Her effort stood out in an innings where partnerships were almost impossible to construct.
As wickets fell regularly at the other end, the run rate slowed further, and Uganda were eventually bowled out for just 55 runs in 19.3 overs, their lowest total of the tournament so far and one that left them with little room to fight back.
Thailand’s dominance with the ball was shaped by a sensational spell from Thipatcha Putthawong, who produced the standout performance of the match.
She claimed five wickets for just six runs in 3.3 overs, ripping through Uganda’s middle and lower order with precision and consistency.
Supported by disciplined bowling from the rest of the attack, Thailand ensured that Uganda never recovered from the early damage, setting up a straightforward chase.
In response, Thailand approached the run chase with calmness and clarity, showing no signs of rushing but also wasting no time.

Openers Nattaya Boochatham and Nannapat Koncharoenkai provided a stable platform, with Boochatham scoring a composed 24 off 26 deliveries before falling.
Koncharoenkai steered the remainder of the chase with an unbeaten 28 off 23 balls, ensuring Thailand crossed the line without difficulty and closed the match inside nine overs.
For Uganda, the bowling unit was left defending an extremely small target, and although they attempted to create pressure with tight lines early on, Thailand’s batters remained in control throughout.
Akiteng Sarah and Consylate Aweko managed to claim a wicket each, but the scoreboard pressure was too low to trouble a confident Thai side.
Thailand’s eight-wicket victory keeps them firmly positioned as one of the stronger and more consistent teams in the competition, showing efficiency with both ball and bat.
Uganda, meanwhile, will need to regroup quickly and pay urgent attention to their batting structure and ability to handle pressure in the early overs.
With more two games ahead against Tanzania and the Netherlands, the Victoria Pearls still have opportunities to respond, but improved execution will be crucial if they are to stay competitive in the Emerging Nations Trophy.
