The Girls’ Schools Cricket Week Qualifiers in the Eastern Region burst into life with a thrilling opening, as two powerhouses Olila High School and Light Secondary School stamped their authority with commanding performances.
Defending champions Olila High School wasted no time reminding everyone why they hold the crown.

In their first outing, they dismantled Kamuda Parents Secondary School with ease.
Posting 108/2 in a shortened 10-over contest, Olila’s bowlers followed up with a ruthless display, restricting Kamuda to just 13/6 to seal a 95-run victory.
If that was impressive, their second match was even more dominant.
Olila piled on a massive 196/2 in 20 overs against Soroti Secondary School, showcasing depth and confidence in their batting.
Soroti had no answers in response, crumbling for 39 all out, handing Olila a crushing 157-run win.

Malisa Ariokot led the charge with a brilliant unbeaten 83, while Joan Nabaseka starred with the ball, picking up six wickets across the day.

Not to be outdone, Light Secondary School matched the champions stride for stride with two emphatic wins of their own.
They first overwhelmed Kamuda Parents Secondary School, posting 166/2 before bowling them out for just 12 runs, a staggering 154-run victory.
Light SS then produced one of the most clinical chases of the day against St. Mary’s Girls Secondary School, Madera.
After bundling out their opponents for a mere 15, they chased down the target in just 1.1 overs without losing a wicket, sealing a dominant 10-wicket win.
With both Olila High School and Light Secondary School unbeaten and sitting comfortably at the top of the table, the stage is already set for an exciting battle for supremacy as the qualifiers gather momentum.
