Cricket Uganda (CU) is delighted to announce that Grace Mutyagaba, its Northern Uganda Development Officer, has completed the ICC Global Level 3 Coaching Course and is now officially certified as an ICC Level 3 Coach.
Mutyagaba surpassed the 80% threshold required for competency and became part of the select 77.78% of coaches from the 2025 cohort deemed competent by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The course, conducted in Bahrain from May 26–30, 2025, was followed by a rigorous 12-week assessment. Mutyagaba’s case study focused on “Creating a Sustainable Environment to Develop U-19 Fast Bowlers from Northern Uganda into Uganda National Teams.”
His work was assessed by ICC Master Educators Janith Tharaka Samaratung, Cam Tradell, Jolene Campher, Prachur Shukla, and Esther de Lange.
“This achievement is not mine alone – it stands as a testament to our collective effort, dedication, and shared vision at UCA,” said Mutyagaba. “I look forward to extending this knowledge to empower more local coaches and contribute meaningfully to raise the standards in Uganda.”

Mutyagaba, who re-did his Level 1 & 2 certifications between 2021 and early 2024, described the Level 3 journey as both “mentally and emotionally demanding,” but ultimately rewarding.
“The course stretched me – balancing work, school, and the project was tough,” he noted. “But as they say, rough seas make stronger sailors. It’s those tough times that build great people.”
ICC Manager for Participation Programmes Abhishek Shekhawat commended UCA for its growing pool of elite coaches, including Davis Turinawe, Henry Okecho and Deus Muhumuz, among others.
“We congratulate Cricket Uganda on this strong result and appreciate your continued commitment to strengthening high-performance coaching within your system,” Shekhawat stated. A digital certificate of completion will be issued to Mutyagaba by ICC within four weeks.
