The Nigeria U19 side will jet into Kampala on Monday to prepare their side ahead of the Div 2 U19 World Cup Qualifiers in Southafrica. Nigeria missed out on the last qualifiers in Nairobi in 2017 after they pipped by Botswana and Ghana and they want to change this fact.
The junior side will want to emulate their senior side that qualified for the next round of T20 world Cup qualifiers, They will be competing with 10 other nations from which the top 2 sides will move on to the next round of qualifiers. Nigeria will come up against Rwanda, Mozambique, Swaziland, Lesotho, Ghana, Sierraleon, Botswana, Zambia, Tanzania, Gambia and Rwanda.
The Nigeria contigent of 14 players and 5 officials will play 5 ODI games against the Uganda U19 side and U23 sides from Lugogo and Kyambogo. The side will spend a total 11 days in Kampala before they flew out for the tournament in Benoni Southafrica.
The Uganda U19 side will be led by Frank Akankwasa while cricket cranes youngster Kenneth Waiswa will captain the U23 side.
Uganda will be looking to use the same build up to look some youngsters who will form the core of their U19 side that will take part in the qualifiers next year.
