Entebbe, Uganda – Namibia skipper Suné Wittmann has expressed high confidence in her squad’s readiness to compete for the Victoria Series 2026 top honours at Entebbe Cricket Oval.

The Capricorn Eagles are heading into Uganda off the back of rigorous physical and technical preparations designed to sharpen both their senior key players and rising talents.

Running from November 6 to November 14, 2026, the four-nation tournament brings together host nation Uganda (the Victoria Pearls), Namibia, Rwanda, and the USA.

Meticulous Preparations and Youth Integration

Speaking ahead of the team’s departure, Wittmann highlighted the squad’s structured training regime following their recent home quadrangular tournament.

“We are heading off to Uganda for the Victoria Series. We had very good preparations—after the quadrangular we played here, we had a few intense sessions really focused on our fitness, strength and conditioning, combined with skill sessions,” Wittmann said. “The ladies are very well prepared.”

BREAKTHROUGH MOMENT: Namibia celebrates a wicket during their contest against Uganda’s Victoria Pearls at the HP Oval in Windhoek; spinner Victoria Hamunyela led the Namibian bowling attack with match-best figures of 2/20.

Wittmann emphasized the positive impact of mixing youth with experience, citing the recent Ireland U-19 series as a key stepping stone for integrating young players into the senior setup.

“What a great opportunity for the youngsters to be part of the system, to see what it’s like to be in the senior setup, and also to have some good performances from them and the senior ladies going into the series. Cricket is about momentum, and you want momentum on your side. The Ireland U-19 series gave a lot of the girls that confidence going into a big series like this.”

The 2026 Victoria Series features a competitive round-robin format through November 12 (with rest days on November 9 and 13), culminating in the third-place playoff and final on November 14.

STEADYING THE INNINGS: Namibia’s Edelle van Zyl lines up to punch a delivery during their match against Uganda in the 2026 Quadrangular T20 Series. Van Zyl scored a patient 13 off 19 balls, helping to stabilize the innings during a vital fourth-wicket partnership with Arrasta Diergaardt after an early top-order collapse.

For Wittmann and her side, the tournament provides an exciting opportunity to test themselves against familiar international rivals.

Namibia’s fixtures pit them against the USA, hosts Uganda, and Rwanda. Refined from previous international encounters, the Namibians are eager to turn past learnings into victories on the field.

“It’s going to be a great series,” Wittmann noted. “We have the opportunity to play the likes of USA again, and the games between us and Uganda are always interesting and tough. Rwanda is also in the mix. We’ve played USA twice at global qualifiers – first in Scotland and recently in Nepal. We lost both games against them, but that’s why we’re excited for this series: to make sure we take the learnings from those games and come out on the better side this time around.”

THE CAPRICORN COMEBACK: The Capricorn Eagles regroup on the field during their contest against Uganda at the HP Oval in Windhoek. Displaying immense resilience, Namibia recovered from a precarious 36/3 early in their innings to force a 123-run tie before clinching a dramatic Super Over victory.
