Yesterday, the Jinja S.S.S Girls Interhouse Cricket Competition came to an exciting close at the Jinja Oval, bringing together five houses in a lively display of school cricket.
Murchison, Nile, Elgon, Kyoga, and Victoria, all battled it out in a fast-paced Twenty20 format, delivering a day filled with competitive spirit and emerging talent.
The tournament began with round-robin action, where each house tested its strength against the others.
Kyoga House impressed early with strong performances, registering convincing wins, including a dominant 10-wicket victory over Elgon and a solid result against Nile.
Their consistency saw them emerge as one of the standout sides heading into the final.
Murchison House, however, steadily built momentum as the competition progressed.
Despite a few mixed results in the group stage, they remained composed and picked up crucial wins, including victories over Victoria and Nile, to book their place in the final against Kyoga.
In the final, Kyoga posted a competitive 55/1 in their 10 overs, with Asha Mukite leading the charge with a well-crafted 25.
It was a solid total, but Murchison rose to the occasion with a clinical response.
Powered by an outstanding unbeaten 46 from Leila Nalukenge, Murchison produced a flawless chase.
Together with Jacinta Nalumansi, the pair guided the side to 58/0 in just 8.3 overs, sealing a dominant 10-wicket victory.

Nalukenge’s brilliant innings earned her the Player of the Match award.
Asha Mukite finished as the tournament’s leading run scorer, amassing an impressive 179 runs for Kyoga and consistently anchoring her side’s batting throughout the competition.
Close behind her was Murchison’s Nalukenge Nalukenge with 176 runs, including a match-winning knock in the final that proved decisive in the title race.

With the ball, Tahia Nassuna of Murchison emerged as one of the leading wicket takers with 8 wickets, matching Asha Mukite and Maureen Abbo , and playing a key role in Murchison House’s successful campaign.
The tournament showcased not only fierce competition but also the growing depth of talent within the school.
All five houses contributed to an entertaining event, with Victoria and Elgon also recording notable wins along the way.
With the girls’ interhouse competition concluded, attention now shifts to the boys’ interhouse tournament, where more exciting cricket action is expected.
