The sun-soaked plains of Soroti glowed warmly at the close of November, as if stretching out their arms to welcome the travelling Mukono Cricket Community.

What began as a simple hard-ball Twenty20 tour soon unfolded into a journey of emotion, grit, and discovery—an experience that would leave an indelible mark on everyone who took part.

Three teams—SCA A, SCA B, and the spirited Mukono Cricket Community side—stepped onto the dusty pitches ready for six clashes that would test nerve, skill, and heart.

The Mukono Tour of Soroti opened on 30th November with SCA A asserting dominance, defeating SCA B by 70 runs in a commanding display, while SCA B responded later that day, chasing down Mukono’s modest 43/7 with five wickets in hand.

Day two saw a swing of momentum: SCA A crushed Mukono by 82 runs, yet in a thrilling contest, while Mukono got its only win at the tour as they narrowly overcame SCA B by just seven runs, proving every run counted.

SCA B, undeterred, edged Mukono by seven wickets in a confident chase, showcasing their resilience.

On the final day, 2nd December, SCA B defeated Mukono by four runs after a tight contest while SCA A triumphed over SCA B by four runs in the final game

Across three days of hard-fought Twenty20 matches, Soroti’s pitches delivered excitement, unpredictability, and memorable performances, leaving every team with victories to celebrate and lessons to carry forward.

At the summit, SCA A stood tall—unbeaten across their three games, boasting a flawless record and a staggering Net Run Rate of 3.0588. SCA B followed with two wins from five, their resilience etched in narrow victories that kept excitement coursing through the tour.

Brilliance sparkled through individual performances.

Joan Ilora’s 117 runs crowned her the batting queen, her 53 the highest score of the tournament. Josephine Icumar added 70 to SCA A’s firepower, while Mukono’s Hasifah Naula impressed with 59.

With the ball, Joyce Arugo’s eight wickets led all contenders, while Rita Alio’s sensational 4 for 5 stood unmatched. Mukono’s Martha Muhindo and Catherine Mbindule, each with five wickets, shone with pride.

When the final ball was bowled and the Soroti sun dipped below the horizon, Mukono departed with more than results.

They carried home friendships, courage, and memories—seeds of passion that will inspire Uganda’s next generation of cricket dreamers.
