Mt. St. Henry’s High School Mukono capped off a remarkable day with two gritty performances that sealed their place in the semi-finals of the 2026 Sky View Girls Schools Cricket Week.
Day five of the tournament delivered defining moments across both the Super Eight and Placement stages, with defending champions Olila HS confirming their semi final berth, Light SS and Sacred Heart also advancing, while eight-time winners Jinja SS suffered a dramatic exit from the competition.
Light SS and Olila HS have both advanced to the semifinals unbeaten at the Sky View Girls Schools Cricket Week, continuing their dominant runs in the tournament.
Remarkably, this marks the sixth consecutive year the two sides have reached the semifinals, underlining their consistency and sustained excellence at the top level of girls’ school cricket.
The day belonged to Mt. St. Henry’s, who bounced back from a difficult start to the Super Eight campaign and produced consecutive low-scoring victories that underlined their resilience, discipline, and growing belief.
MORNING
The morning session set the tone for a decisive day as teams battled for semifinal qualification and survival hopes.
Jinja SS vs Olila HS – @ Gulu High School Cricket Ground

Olila HS won by 61 runs
The battle for supremacy between record winners Jinja SS and defending champions Olila HS ended with the latter taking early bragging rights after a commanding 61-run victory in Group A of the Super Eight.
Olila HS elected to bat first and posted 103/5, thanks largely to opener Joan Ilora, who registered her first half-century of the tournament with an impressive 69 off 70 balls.

However, it was Olila’s bowling attack that ultimately proved decisive.
Josephine Icumar and Devine Nyamer spun Jinja SS into trouble, dismissing key batters including Asha Mukite and captain Sheila Namagoba for ducks. Icumar claimed four wickets while Nyamer added two as Jinja collapsed to 42/7.
The result confirmed Olila’s place in the semifinals with a game to spare, while Jinja SS were left needing victory against Mt. St. Henry’s later in the day to stay alive.

After winning the toss, St. John’s elected to field first and restricted Mt. St. Henry’s to 73 all out in 15.4 overs.
Irene Nademba and Jovia Kyisakye each picked up three wickets in a disciplined bowling display.
Despite the modest total, Mt. St. Henry’s produced a spirited fightback with the ball.
Opener Shatra Agenrwot led the charge, striking early and claiming three wickets in her opening spell to derail the chase before it could settle.

St. John’s never fully recovered and were eventually bowled out for 67 in 14.4 overs as Mt. St. Henry’s secured a narrow six-run victory.
The win revived Mt. St. Henry’s semi final hopes and set up a winner-takes-all clash against Jinja SS later in the afternoon, while St. John’s were eliminated from semi final contention.

Sacred Heart vs Masaka SS – @ Gulu High School Cricket Ground

Sacred Heart won by 18 runs
In Group B, Sacred Heart strengthened their semi final ambitions with an 18-run victory over Masaka SS in a reduced-overs contest.
Sacred Heart posted 89/5 in 17 overs before restricting Masaka to 71/3 in reply.
The result placed Sacred Heart in a strong position heading into their afternoon clash against Masindi SS, while Masaka were left needing victory against Light SS to keep their hopes alive.
St. Theresa Girls SS vs Gayaza HS – @ St. Joseph’s College, Layibi (B)

St. Theresa won by 63 runs
Debutants St. Theresa Girls SS continued their impressive campaign with a dominant 63-run victory over four-time winners Gayaza HS in Placement D.
Although Veny Kasangaki top-scored with just 19, Gayaza conceded 40 extras as St. Theresa accumulated 98/9.
Gayaza failed to recover in the chase and were dismissed for 35, handing St. Theresa a crucial win that kept them firmly on course for the Placement semifinals.
Iganga SS vs Goodheart SS – @ Graceland Girls Ground

Iganga SS won by 72 runs
Iganga SS registered a commanding 72-run victory in Placement B after posting 96/9 and bowling out Goodheart SS for just 24 in 10.3 overs.
The result kept Iganga’s hopes of reaching the Placement semifinals alive ahead of their decisive clash against St. James SS.
Kasese SS vs Nyakasura School – @ Gulu Prison Primary School Ground

Kasese SS won by 49 runs
Kasese SS finally secured their first victory of the tournament in emphatic fashion.
They dominated the Western region derby in a game where no one gave them a chance.
Ronita Ithungu starred with an unbeaten 79 as Kasese posted 137/8 before restricting Nyakasura School to 88/8 to seal a 49-run victory.
Having lost all four of their group-stage matches, the result revived Kasese’s hopes of progressing in the Placement games and lifted them to the top of Placement C.

The afternoon session confirmed the semifinalists as pressure intensified across the Super Eight groups.

For the second tournament in succession, eight-time champions Jinja SS failed to reach the semifinals.
Mt. St. Henry’s completed a remarkable turnaround by defeating Jinja SS by 14 runs in a tense low-scoring contest that secured their place in the last four.
Batting first, Mt. St. Henry’s struggled for fluency but battled to 66/7 in 20 overs.
Fausta Namubiru top-scored with 17, while extras also contributed significantly to the total.
Jinja’s bowlers kept things tight throughout, with Anna Mary Kisa and Rashidah Tikabula both claiming two wickets.
In response, Jinja SS once again struggled against disciplined bowling.
Asha Mukite attempted to anchor the innings with 19 runs, but wickets continued to fall regularly as the innings closed on 52/9.

Sarah Tino delivered a superb spell, conceding only three runs while taking four wickets, including the dismissal of Teddy Naiga for a duck.
Mary Joyce Arugo added three wickets as Masaka SS were bowled out in 16.4 overs.
The result made it two wins from two for Light SS in Group B and kept them on course to top the group heading into their decisive clash against Sacred Heart.

Sacred Heart booked their semifinal place with a dominant nine-wicket victory over Masindi SS.
Masindi managed 59/7 in their innings before Sacred Heart chased the target comfortably in just 13.4 overs.
The result means Sacred Heart reach the semifinals for the third consecutive edition of the tournament.
Their final Super Eight clash against Light SS will now determine who tops Group B and potentially avoids a semifinal meeting with defending champions Olila HS.

The result ensured St. Theresa finished top of Placement D and maintained their impressive momentum heading into the knockout stage.

Ndejje SS won by 4 wickets
Blessing Apio once again starred for Ndejje SS as they defeated hosts Gulu HS by four wickets.
Apio followed up her strong all-round display from the previous day with another influential bowling performance, claiming three wickets to guide her side to victory.

While the win boosted Ndejje’s campaign, qualification hopes still depended on other results.

St. James SS kept their Placement semifinal hopes alive with a dominant 55-run victory over Goodheart SS.
After posting 97 all out, St. James comfortably defended the total by bowling out Goodheart for just 42.
Their decisive clash against Iganga SS will now determine who progresses to the semifinals from Placement B.
