LYCA WOMEN’S T20 LEAGUE 2025 – MATCHDAY 6 PREVIEW
Saturday, July 12, 2025
THE FINAL PUSH. TWO FIXTURES. COUNTLESS DREAMS.
As Matchday Six dawns in the Lyca Women’s T20 League, the group stages reach their dramatic climax. For some, it’s win or go home. For others, it’s about carrying unstoppable momentum into the knockouts. Semi-final places remain up for grabs – and the margins are razor-thin.
Pioneer, currently on 8 points after earning a walkover last week, now watch nervously from the sidelines. Their qualification fate hinges on the outcome of the Group A decider between Wanderers and Tornado Bee.
SATURDAY – JULY 12, 2025 – FIXTURE PREVIEWS
Wanderers vs Tornado Bee – Lugogo Cricket Oval – 10am & 2pm
Neck and Neck – Winner Takes All
The stakes couldn’t be clearer at Lugogo Oval. Wanderers and Tornado Bee – both locked on 6 points from 6 matches – clash in a do-or-die Group A double-header. The equation is simple:
▪️ Sweep the series 2-0, and a semi-final ticket is yours.
▪️ Split the series 1-1, and Net Run Rate becomes king – an area where Wanderers currently hold a slender edge.
These two sides have not met in league for some time now. Last season, they resided in separate groups. Now, their first-ever head-to-head could define their seasons.
Key Watch:
Wanderers boast league top scorer Naome Kayondo Bagenda (236 runs), combining form and experience from last year’s semi-final run. But Tornado Bee remain dangerous, desperate to reassert themselves after an inconsistent campaign marked by forfeitures.
With everything on the line, expect playoff-level intensity, tactical precision, and a fierce contest for that coveted final four spot. This double is expected to attract a fair crowd at Lugogo.
Jinja SS vs Africa Cricket Club (ACC) – Jinja SS Oval – 10am & 2pm
Dead Rubber? Think Again
Over at Jinja SS Oval, pride and preparation are the themes. Jinja SS, already qualified for the semi-finals with 8 points, welcome bottom-placed Africa, who are yet to taste victory this season.
Flashback to July 27, 2024:
- Game One: Jinja SS chased down 91 comfortably, finishing on 93/2 in just 12.3 overs.
 - Game Two: Africa pushed them close, but Jinja SS defended 115/3, winning by just 5 runs.

For Jinja SS, it’s about sharpening their rhythm, testing strategies, and building confidence ahead of knockout battles. For Africa, it’s a final shot at redemption – to exit with pride and prove their mettle against a top side.

GROUP STANDINGS – SNAPSHOT
Group A:
 ▪️ Soroti City – 16 points, Pioneer – 8 points, Wanderers – 6 points, Tornado Bee – 6 points, Tornado – 0 points
Group B:
 ▪️ Olila – 16 points, Jinja SS – 8 points, Mukono Development – 6 points, JACC – 5 points, Africa – 1 points
THE FINAL DAY: WHO WILL RISE?
Matchday Six promises to answer burning questions;
▪️ Will Wanderers or Tornado Bee seize the day – or will Net Run Rate decide Pioneer’s fate?
▪️ Can Jinja SS maintain winning momentum ahead of the semis?
▪️ Will Africa CC bow out with a statement performance?
The group stage ends here. The semi-final picture awaits clarity. The stakes couldn’t be higher. This is Matchday Six – everything is on the line.
