2025 UCA NATIONAL MEN’S 50 OVER LEAGUE – MATCHDAY 19 PREVIEW
Sunday, August 10, 2025

THE BUILD-UP!

The league stage is hurtling toward its climax, and the pressure is cranking up. Division One takes center stage this weekend, serving up two high-stakes battles—one a direct relegation dogfight, the other a title-chasing clash. With Division Two on pause, all eyes turn to Entebbe and Kamengo, where survival instincts and championship dreams will collide.

DIVISION ONE – SUNDAY, AUGUST 10, 2025

Wanderers vs Aboojo – Entebbe Cricket Oval, 10AM

Relegation Knife-Edge at the Lakeside

It doesn’t get more straightforward—or more dangerous—than this. Wanderers (2nd-bottom, 8 points from 13 games) are staring down the drop after a season of just three wins. Aboojo, one rung above with 9 points from 11 matches, know that defeat could see them swap places in the danger zone.

First-Round Fireworks – A Rare Tie

Their first clash this season was an instant classic. Aboojo, batting first, posted 123 with Joseph Baguma’s brisk 37 the standout before Abrar Ul Haq’s 5/29 ripped through the order.

Wanderers looked home at 98/3—Raheel Sarwal steady with 46—but Mathew Musinguzi (4/26) and Baguma (3/21) triggered a collapse for the ages. Abrar levelled the scores with one wicket in hand, but the winning run never came—Wanderers all out for 123. Honours even.

Momentum Watch:

Wanderers were thumped by Ceylon Lions last weekend (109-run defeat). Aboojo fell short against Rounders by 3 wickets. Both are bruised. Both must win.

Kutchi Tigers vs Tornado Bee – Serenity Oval Kamengo, 10AM

Champions Back in the Hunt

Defending kings Kutchi Tigers (2nd, 18 points) return from a break hungry to close the gap on leaders Ceylon Lions. Victory keeps the title race alive. For Tornado Bee (5th, 9 points), the stakes are different but just as steep—they’re one point above the relegation zone and can’t afford another slip.

Earlier in the Season – Tigers Roar

In their last meeting, Kutchi Tigers bossed a 54-run win in a rain-trimmed 42-over match. Mitul Pindoriya’s 74 and Ghanshyam Ashani’s 30 anchored 218/9, despite Cyrus Kibukamusoke’s 4-wicket haul. Tornado Bee came out swinging—Roger Mukasa (41 off 31) and Jonathan Ssebanja (30 off 18) threatened—but Alpesh Hirani (4/20) and Kush Mahesh Vekariya (3 wickets) slammed the door shut.

Momentum Watch:

Tornado Bee pushed hard in a narrow 9-run defeat to Ceylon Lions last weekend—signs of life in the camp. Kutchi Tigers, in their last run-out, saw off JACC by 30 runs (DLS). Both sides enter with confidence—but only one can walk out smiling.

FINAL WORD

Matchday 19 delivers pressure cricket at its purest. Wanderers and Aboojo fight for their Division One lives. Kutchi Tigers chase the leaders – Ceylon Lions. Tornado Bee face between survival in the topflight and crumbling into an unwanted relegation dogfight.

With the table tightening and the finish line in sight, every run and every wicket could decide who rises and who falls.

This is the UCA Men’s National 50-Over League – no dead rubbers, no easy days.
