The recently concluded Post-Independence Cricket Tournament at the Masindi Cricket Hub was nothing short of thrilling, with Masindi Secondary School (SS) emerging as champions in both the boys’ and girls’ categories.

The weekend was packed with excitement, energy, and incredible displays of skill as young cricketers battled for glory on home soil.

In the boys’ final, Masindi SS faced off against Masindi Army Secondary in a tense contest. Masindi SSS won the toss and elected to bowl first—a decision that proved decisive.

The Army boys managed 58 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their 10 overs. Kalvin Ahumuza led the charge with a solid 25 off 17 balls, supported by Lazarus Eulugant with 12 off 7.

Masindi’s bowlers were on fire, with Kato Wilson taking 2 for 8 and Swale Gadafi claiming 2 for 14.

Chasing 59, Masindi SS showed composure and maturity at the crease.

Ivan Nsimire anchored the innings with a steady 20 off 21 balls, while Kato Wilson (15 off 12) and Robert Businge (12 off 17) guided their team to victory in the 10th over.

Masindi SS sealed the win by 8 wickets to lift the boys’ trophy.

The girls’ final was another thrilling encounter between Masindi SS and St. Thereza Girls.

Masindi SS batted first and set 47 for 5 in their 10 overs, with Mary Ayiyo (23 off 18) and Mackline Kyosaba (12 off 15) leading the way.

In reply, St. Thereza fought hard but fell short at 38 for 6.

Peace Ninsima (3 for 11) and Safina Kyosaba (2 for 6) were instrumental in defending the total as Masindi SSS won by 9 runs.

CWB Ambassador and Head Coach for Masindi District under the Northern Region, Patrick Busingye, said the tournament offers valuable playing time and exposure for the area’s emerging talent. He noted that;
