Light Secondary School were crowned champions of the Girls Schools Cricket Week after defeating defending champions Olila High School by five wickets in the final at the Gulu High School Cricket Ground.
In what felt like a repeat of the 2024 final, Light SS once again proved too strong for Olila, completing the tournament unbeaten and sealing a second crown in Gulu.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Olila HS struggled to build momentum and were restricted to 62/8 in 20 overs.
Captain Malisa Ariokot top scored with 22 runs while Joan Ilora added 11.

Light SS produced a disciplined bowling display led by Ritah Alio and Teddy Anyait, who both picked up three wickets, while Sarah Tino and Joyce Mary Arugo chipped in with one wicket each.
In reply, Light SS chased down the target in 18.2 overs despite a few stumbles along the way. Susan Akidi scored 14 while Ruth Kulume held the innings together with an unbeaten 15 as Akello Ruth guided the side over the line.

Devine Gabriella Nyamer tried to keep Olila in the contest with a brilliant spell of 1/7 in four overs and was named Player of the Match, but Light SS held their nerve to complete a memorable unbeaten campaign and reclaim the Girls Schools Cricket Week title.
Earlier on in the 9th placement game, Soroti Secondary School signed off their Girls Schools Cricket Week campaign with a six-wicket victory over St. James Secondary School at the Gulu High School Cricket Ground.
St. James SS struggled for momentum after opting to bat, eventually posting 48/9 in their 20 overs. Namata Kevin top scored with 15 runs while extras contributed 21 to the total.
Soroti SS produced a disciplined bowling display led by Judith Iroo, who picked up three wickets, while Vivian Alibo and Sharon Ainyo claimed two wickets each to keep St. James under pressure throughout the innings.
In reply, Soroti SS reached the target in 17 overs despite losing four wickets along the way. Mary Nabuma anchored the chase with an unbeaten 8 while Sharon Ainyo added 8 runs. Extras once again played a major role, contributing 26 runs to the successful chase.
Selina Oliba and Patricia Iracha picked up two wickets apiece for St. James SS, but Soroti SS comfortably crossed the finish line to seal the victory.
