he 2026 UG20 Men’s Tournament continues into its second matchday on September 12 and 13, with defending champions Ismaili Community set to begin their title defence as six fixtures take place across four venues.
The champions will begin their campaign against Kutchi Tigers at Lugogo Cricket Oval, while several teams will be looking to build on their opening-weekend results.
Day Two Fixtures
September 12
Tornado Bees vs Nile – Lugogo Oval
In Group A at Lugogo Cricket Oval, Tornado Bees will take on Nile Cricket Club on Saturday.
Tornado Bees won the 50-over Division One League earlier this year and will be looking to complete a domestic double by adding the UG20 title.
The Bees will be without Cosmas Kyewuta and Anas Baig, who are with the Cricket Cranes in Rwanda, while Nile’s Yves Cyusa is currently engaged with Rwanda’s senior men’s team in Kigali.
Last year, Tornado Bees missed out on the knockouts on net run rate after finishing third in Group A, despite being level on points with Wanderers Cricket Club.
They will be hoping to avoid a similar fate this season.
Nile Cricket Club, who were relegated to the third division, will see the UG20 as an opportunity to finish the season with silverware.
September 13
Kutchi Tigers vs Ismaili Community – Lugogo Oval
Defending champions Ismaili Community will launch their title defence at Lugogo Cricket Oval on Sunday against Kutchi Tigers.
Ismaili will be without captain Riazat Ali Shah and opening bowler Juma Miyagi, both of whom are in Rwanda with the Cricket Cranes.
Ismaili won last year’s UG20 after defeating Aboojo by 23 runs in the final and will be hoping to make a strong start to their title defence.
Ismaili Community and Kutchi Tigers Renew UG20 Rivalry
The two sides will renew a rivalry that began in last year’s quarter-final.
Ismaili came out on top at Entebbe Cricket Ground, posting 136/5 before restricting Kutchi Tigers to 122/7 to secure a 14-run victory.
The result ended Kutchi Tigers’ campaign, while Ismaili went on to claim the title.
With both teams now in Group A, alongside Tornado CC, Soroti City CC, Aboojo CC and Kifaru CC, their latest meeting promises another closely fought contest.
Avengers vs Kutchi Tigers B – Entebbe Oval
In Group C, last year’s semi-finalists Avengers CC will begin their campaign against Kutchi Tigers B at Entebbe Cricket Oval.
Avengers were impressive during the group stage last year, finishing top of Group C after losing just one game before their campaign eventually ended in the semi-finals against Ismaili.
They will be hoping to replicate that consistency and go one step further this season.
For Kutchi Tigers B, last year was a difficult campaign as they finished bottom of Group B after losing all eight of their matches.
They will be looking for a much-improved campaign when they take on Avengers.
The meeting also gives Kutchi Tigers B an opportunity for revenge after Avengers defeated them in the Men’s 50 Overs League earlier this year.
Avengers posted 137 all out before bowling Kutchi Tigers B out for 74 in 25.4 overs, securing a 63-run victory.
The result will provide extra motivation for Kutchi Tigers B as they look to turn the tables in the shorter format.
JACC vs Mukono Warriors – Jinja Oval
In Group D, JACC will look to bounce back from their opening loss to GM Sugar when they face Mukono Warriors at Jinja Oval.
JACC defeated Mukono Warriors earlier this year in the 50-over league, winning by 64 runs, and the Warriors will be looking to settle the score in the UG20.
Mukono Warriors will again be without their players who are in Rwanda with the Cricket Cranes, while JACC will also miss captain Kenneth Waiswa.
Mukono Warriors will still be without Ronald Lutaaya, Fahad Mutagana and Gerald Olipa, who have travelled to Rwanda with the men’s team for the ILT20 Cup.
The Warriors have, however, strengthened their squad with the addition of Geoffrey Kakaire from Wanderers Cricket Club, and he made an immediate impact on the opening day.
Kakaire was in outstanding form, winning two Player of the Match awards on Day One as the Warriors made a strong start to their UG20 campaign.
Tornado vs Soroti City – Florida Oval
At Florida Oval, Tornado CC will face Soroti City CC in another Group A contest.
Soroti City did not participate in last year’s UG20 but will make their T20 debut in the competition this season. They will be hoping to mark their first appearance with a strong start against Tornado.
For Tornado Cricket Club, this will be an opportunity to improve on last year’s campaign. They finished fourth in Group C after 10 matches, winning three, losing five and recording two no-results.
The side will be looking for a much better campaign this time as they begin their Group A journey against Soroti City.
Iganga vs ACC – New GM Sugar Oval
In Group D, Africa Cricket Club (ACC) will be looking to bounce back from their two defeats to Mukono Warriors on matchday one when they face Iganga CC at New GM Sugar Oval.
ACC and Iganga have already met this year in the 50-over Bronze category, with Iganga winning by 34 runs after ACC failed to chase down a target of 100.
ACC will be hoping to turn the tables in the T20 format.
For Iganga, the match will mark their first appearance in the UG20, and the new side will be looking to make a positive start to their campaign.
As the second matchday gets underway, defending champions Ismaili Community will finally enter the competition, while the other contenders continue their push towards the knockout stages and the ultimate prize of UG20 glory.
