On Saturday, St Johns SS face Wanderers CC at Lugogo Cricket Oval, where veteran Denis Arthur Musali will play his final league match for Wanderers after a 23-year career with the club since 2003. The match carries emotional weight for Wanderers despite having no impact on the standings.
Sunday will feature the Bronze Category final, with Centurion CC taking on Pak Shaheens CC in a winner-takes-all showdown at the same venue.
SILVER CATEGORY
St Johns SS vs Wanderers CC – Lugogo Cricket Oval
St Johns SS Cricket Club, whose relegation to Division Three was confirmed alongside Nile Cricket Club, will conclude their season against Wanderers CC in the final Silver Category fixture.
The two sides meet for the first time ever, with St Johns SS enduring a difficult campaign that has seen them lose all six matches and finish bottom of the Division Two table. Wanderers CC, meanwhile, have experienced a mixed season, recording two wins, three losses, and one no result from their six outings. They head into this encounter on the back of a narrow 2-wicket defeat to SKLPS CC, while St Johns SS were last beaten by Soroti City CC, going down by 148 runs.
With the standings already settled, the fixture will be played purely for pride and the opportunity to end the season on a positive note.
At Lugogo Cricket Oval, the match will also mark a significant moment for Wanderers CC, as veteran Denis Arthur Musali features in his final league appearance for the club. After 23 years of service since joining in 2003, Musali will bring an end to an extraordinary journey, adding emotional weight to a fixture that otherwise carries no impact on the table.
BRONZE CATEGORY (FINAL)
Centurion CC vs Pak Shaheens CC – Lugogo Cricket Oval
All roads lead to Lugogo Cricket Oval on Sunday as Centurion CC and Pak Shaheens CC meet in the Bronze Category final, with the Division Three championship on the line.
Both sides earned promotion after winning their respective semifinal ties, setting up a high-stakes clash between two of the most consistent teams in the competition.
Centurion CC topped Group A unbeaten, winning all three of their matches before going on to defeat Kifaru Strikers in last Sunday’s semifinal. Pak Shaheens CC, meanwhile, were dominant in Group B, winning four of their five matches and registering one no result against Africa Cricket Club before overcoming Tornado Cricket Club to reach the final.
Centurion will rely on key performers such as Davis Karashani and Brian Musaba, who have been instrumental throughout the campaign. However, reports suggest they could be without some of their Rwandese contingent for the final.
Pak Shaheens arrive in strong form, led by Sunil Kumar, who has amassed 217 runs in the tournament and remains their key batting pillar heading into the final. They may also be boosted by the possible inclusion of Kenyan international Alex Obanda, while Raheel Sarwar, the Division Three leading wicket-taker with 11 scalps, continues to spearhead their bowling attack.
With both sides boasting unbeaten runs in the group stages and strong semifinal performances, the final promises a tightly contested battle for the Division Three crown.
