Cricket Uganda is proud to support the upcoming Soroti City Charity Run & Cricket Carnival, taking place this Saturday, 20th December 2025, at Soroti City Oval.
Organised by Soroti Cricket Academy (SCA), the event is a vibrant celebration of sport, community, and youth empowerment in the Teso region.
The day will feature a Charity Run across 5km, 10km, and 15km routes, alongside exhibition cricket matches, junior activities, music, and entertainment.
The initiative aims to raise awareness on critical issues, including gender-based violence, early and forced marriages, school dropouts, and sexual and reproductive health and rights.
In a show of solidarity, Acting Cricket Uganda CEO Evelyn Kabongerwa Shinyekwa offered the academy representative, Derrick Bakunzi, funds to sponsor 10 girls to take part in the Charity Run. Evelyn said;
Cricket Uganda deeply appreciates Soroti Cricket Academy for building dreams through sport and empowering the youth. The Academy’s impact is evident, with the majority of Victoria Pearls players having been nurtured by SCA. In support of this mission, Cricket Uganda is proud to sponsor 10 girls to participate in the Charity Run, ensuring that more young talents continue to flourish and carry forward the sport of Cricket in Uganda.
The gesture was intended to reinforce the Soroti Cricket Academy’s commitment to inclusive sport and community development.
Soroti Cricket Academy has played a crucial role in nurturing talent, with many of the Victoria Pearls players beginning their journey through the Academy.
This Charity Run and Carnival not only celebrate their achievements but also provide a platform to inspire the next generation of cricketers and community leaders.
The event is expected to draw wide participation from families, fans, and stakeholders, creating a festive atmosphere that blends sport with social impact.
Cricket Uganda encourages all supporters to join the festivities and stand with Soroti Cricket Academy in building dreams through sport.
