Cricket Uganda Development Manager Davis Turinawe and Northern Regional Development Officer Grace Mutyagaba have completed the prestigious International Cricket Council Level Two Tutors Course, which concluded in Accra, Ghana, marking a significant step forward in strengthening Uganda’s coaching education system.
The intensive three-day programme, held from 5th to 7th June 2026 at the University of Ghana Sports Directorate, brought together coaching educators from across Africa. It was designed to enhance the delivery of coach education programmes and ensure consistency in coaching standards across member nations.
Led by Master Educators Anthonie Ferreira and Chris Cardoso, the course opened with high-level theoretical insights that set the tone for a deep, practical, and reflective learning experience. Participants engaged in classroom instruction, field-based practical sessions, and continuous assessments focused on modern coaching methodologies, player development frameworks, and tutor effectiveness.
Turinawe and Mutyagaba represented Uganda with distinction, contributing actively to discussions on coaching pedagogy and demonstrating strong technical understanding in coach education delivery.
Speaking after the course’s completion, Davis Turinawe highlighted the broader impact of the qualification on Uganda’s cricket development pathway.
“The course emphasised standardisation of coaching delivery across member nations, ensuring consistency in developing both grassroots and elite coaches.”
Turinawe said;
“Our completion positions us as Level Two tutors, enabling us to train and mentor Level One coaches within Uganda’s cricket development structures.”
He added that the achievement will significantly strengthen coach education programmes, particularly in schools and community cricket structures where foundational training is key to long-term growth.
Cricket Uganda has consistently emphasised the importance of investing in coach education as a cornerstone for sustainable player development and improved performance standards.
This milestone further enhances Uganda’s growing footprint in ICC coaching development pathways and reinforces ongoing efforts to build a stronger technical base for the sport nationwide.
Ultimately, the certification of Turinawe and Mutyagaba marks another step forward in empowering coach educators with the skills, knowledge, and tools needed to inspire the next generation of coaches and players across Uganda.
