Cricket Uganda is pleased to announce that Evelyn Kabongerwa Biribonwa Shinyekwa’s tenure as Acting Chief Executive Officer has been extended for one year.

Evelyn continues to make history as the first woman to serve as Acting CEO of Cricket Uganda, following a strong nine-month period of leadership marked by professionalism, innovation, and inclusive governance.

Her extended appointment reflects Cricket Uganda’s commitment to strengthening its institutional foundations, modernising operations, and positioning Ugandan cricket for sustainable growth both nationally and internationally.

Evelyn is a Chartered Accountant (ACCA) with more than 20 years of experience in financial management, governance, audit, and organisational development across the public, private, and non-profit sectors.

She holds an MBA from Makerere University and is currently pursuing a PhD in Business Administration and Management.

Her career includes senior leadership roles with Cricket Uganda as Acting CEO and Finance Manager, Business Synergies as Financial Management Consultant, RSM Eastern Africa as Business Executive, Kisaka & Company CPA as Audit Supervisor, Uganda Media Women’s Association as Finance and Administration Manager, Women in Peace Centre (ISIS-WICCE) as Finance and Administration Manager, Foundation for Human Rights Initiative as Finance and Administration Manager, and Carr Stanyer Sims & Co. as Auditor, Supervisor and Administrator.

During her extended tenure, Evelyn will continue to drive a clear vision for Cricket Uganda, focusing on modernising operations and strengthening institutional systems, expanding grassroots pathways to nurture young talent nationwide, deepening corporate partnerships for sustainable growth, and elevating Uganda’s competitiveness on the continental and global cricket stage.
