Dear Cricket Fraternity,

As we come to the close of 2025, I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to each of you for your unwavering support, partnership, and belief in the vision of Cricket Uganda.

This year has registered significant progress after the acquisition of 15 acres of land in Nakasajja – Gayaza, approximately 27 kilometres from Lugogo, to develop the country’s first permanent Home of Cricket.

The High-Performance Program delivered substantial progress in competitive outcomes. Notable accomplishments include;

The Cricket Cranes won the Pearl of Africa T20 Series in July, defeating UAE in the final, and they remain unbeaten in the CWC Challenge League B standings with 18 points.

  • The Victoria Pearls achieved a 5-0 sweep in the Victoria Series against Canada. They were also crowned champions at the inaugural Women’s Day Cup and Capricorn Series in Namibia. The team also competed in the inaugural ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy in Thailand, finishing Sixth (6th).

Both the senior teams improved T20I rankings, Women moved from No. 19 to No. 17, and the Men from No. 23 to No. 21.

Despite the success of the senior teams, the Baby Cricket Cranes were relegated from Division One after defeat at the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Africa Qualifiers in Lagos, Nigeria.

Locally, we were able to get through our local competitions with the T20 and 50-over seasons for both women and men running smoothly. We commend the clubs for their resilience and professionalism throughout the season, the players for their performances and sportsmanship, and the umpires and scorers for upholding the integrity of the game.

Cricket development remains at the core of our long-term vision, and this year we have made encouraging progress in expanding access to the sport. Through our school cricket programs, community outreach, holiday coaching programs, women’s and girls’ initiatives, and regional development activities, we have continued to introduce more young people to the game with interesting coaching formats like Criiio cricket.

Uganda’s cricket icon Eng. William Kibuuka-Musoke, also known as “The Great Kabuki,” was honoured with the ICC Lifetime Service Award. The award recognised his more than 50 years of selfless dedication and contributions to cricket.

Throughout the year, we have remained focused on strengthening governance systems, enhancing compliance, and promoting transparency and accountability across all levels of the organisation. Key efforts in policy review, financial oversight, risk management, and stakeholder engagement have contributed to improved institutional effectiveness and confidence in Cricket Uganda’s operations.

We acknowledge the leadership and dedication of the Board, committees, affiliate members, stakeholders, and management who worked collaboratively to uphold governance standards while guiding the organisation through an evolving sporting and regulatory environment.

We are also grateful to our partners and sponsors (National Council of Sports, Lyca Mobile, Hariss International, Pepsi, Hisense, Black, Uganda Airlines, Absa Bank, Batball, NWSC, Centenary Bank, GM Sugar Ltd, Cricket Without Boundaries and the Media) for their continued support in promoting the game.

As we look ahead to 2026, our focus remains on investing in talent development, enhancing high-performance pathways, and strengthening partnerships that will drive long-term success for Cricket Uganda.

On behalf of the Board, management, and staff of Cricket Uganda, I would like to thank you for accompanying us on this journey. We look forward to your continued support as we work together to take Ugandan cricket to even greater heights.

I wish you and your families a restful festive season and a blessed New Year.

Yours sincerely,

Evelyn K. B. Shinyekwa
