KAMPALA – MARCH 29, 2026. Cricket Uganda convened its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday, March 28, at Hotel Africana – Kampala, bringing together delegates from member clubs to deliberate on key governance, financial, and developmental priorities shaping the future of the sport.

The session featured comprehensive discussions on the 2025 Annual Report, highlighting the association’s activities, achievements, and operational challenges over the past year, alongside a detailed Constitutional Review Report aimed at strengthening governance structures.
Chairman Jackson Kavuma emphasised the federation’s ongoing reforms:
We have made significant strides in strengthening our governance structures. The constitutional amendments are aligning us with the National Sports Act, and we are now progressing towards full formal registration. Our focus is on accountability, transparency, and building a strong institutional foundation.
Compliance and Strategic Direction
Delegates also received updates from the National Council of Sports (NCS), reinforcing the importance of compliance with the 2023 Sports Act.

Kavuma underscored the federation’s proactive engagement:
We are working closely with the National Council of Sports lead Diana Kwesiga to ensure full compliance. Our consultative approach – engaging clubs and stakeholders – has helped shape a five-year strategic plan that reflects the aspirations of the cricket community.
Financial Accountability
A major highlight of the AGM was the presentation and approval of audited financial statements for the previous year.

Honorary Secretary Denis Musali acknowledged financial pressures while affirming transparency:
The audited accounts present a true and fair view of our financial position. While we operated under a constrained budget due to heavy investment in national team activities, we remain committed to improving sustainability and moving towards a surplus position.
Tornado Cricket Club delegate Chris Luswata welcomed the clean audit outcome:
The accounts were approved with an unqualified opinion, meaning they give a true and fair picture. This is a strong indicator of financial discipline and accountability within the association.

Structural Reforms
- The AGM also reviewed ongoing governance reforms, including:
- Board charter development
- Board evaluation frameworks
- Terms of reference for board members
These measures are aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and oversight.
Looking Ahead
The meeting concluded with renewed commitment to:
- Full compliance with national sports legislation
- Strengthening grassroots and elite pathways
- Expanding cricket’s national footprint
- Improving financial sustainability
Kavuma highlighted long-term ambitions:
We are building structured pathways for talent development, improving national team preparations, and positioning Uganda for global competitiveness. We have a wish list and we are calculatedly working towards achieving our goals including having a proper ‘Home of Cricket’ in Nakasajja in an estimated period of 10 years – funds allowing.
The meeting concluded with a collective commitment to advancing cricket in Uganda through strengthened governance, sustainable development programs, and continued investment in athlete welfare and performance.
