Soroti Secondary School delivered a commanding all-round performance to secure their maiden qualification to the Girls’ Nationals, dismantling Bishop Maraka College in a one-sided match that determined the third school to qualify from the Eastern region.
Batting first, Soroti SS posted a formidable 172 in 19.4 overs, built around a historic maiden half-century from Vivian Alibo.
She anchored the innings with a composed 51 off 46 balls, striking eight boundaries and holding the innings together through key phases.

Mary Nabuma provided early momentum with a quickfire 23 off 15 balls, while Hadijah Acom (15) and Sofia Bogere (10) added valuable contributions in the middle order.
Despite losing wickets at intervals, Soroti’s total was boosted significantly by extras, underlining the pressure they exerted on Bishop SS’s bowling unit.
In reply, Bishop Maraka crumbled under relentless pressure, bundled out for just 14 in 12.4 overs in one of the most dominant bowling displays of the tournament.
Soroti’s bowlers were clinical and disciplined, with Sofia Bogere setting the tone with two wickets, while Elizabeth Ajiko ripped through the lower order with a three-wicket haul.
Mary Nabuma and Hadijah Acom chipped in with a wicket each, as sharp fielding and consistent lines left Bishop Maraka with no room to recover.
The emphatic victory not only sealed qualification but highlighted Soroti SS’s growing strength and depth, marking a historic milestone as they book their place at the Girls’ Nationals for the very first time.
The Nationals will happen in Gulu City starting from 2nd to 9tth May 2026
