This year’s edition of the Capricorn Series features official T20 International (T20I) status, raising the stakes for all participating teams as they eye crucial ranking points.

Running from July 21st to July 30th, 2026, the tournament brings together a competitive four-team grid consisting of Uganda, Tanzania, Hong Kong, and the host nation, Namibia.

The tournament’s 14 scheduled matches will be played across two venues: the HP Oval and the Namibia Cricket Ground.

The Victoria Pearls are placing deep tactical focus on maximising their powerplay returns and tightening bowling lines as they ramp up preparations for the 2026 Capricorn Series.

The team kicked off their recent training blocks with a comprehensive fielding session before shifting focus to specialised skills.

“The training session is good so far,” Alako noted. “We had a fielding session in the morning, and then batters had the chance to get some balls, and also bowlers are working on their variations.”

A crucial area of focus for the Pearls heading into the tournament is maximizing the opening six overs of the innings.

Alako revealed that the top order is putting in targeted hours to ensure they can find boundaries early and keep the scoreboard moving.

“We are currently working on getting our lines back, like getting runs in the powerplay,” Alako explained. “Because, normally, we never used to get enough runs, so we are working hard to score more runs.”

Complementing the batting unit’s aggressive targets, the bowling department is using the current camp to diversify its tactical options.
