After Independence Day action, the 2026 UG20 league continues this weekend with crucial fixtures across all four groups as teams push to secure their places in the knockout stage.
With the group stage approaching its decisive phase, Chennai will look to maintain their position at the top of Group C, defending champions Ismaili return to action in Group A, while GM Sugar will aim to strengthen their playoff hopes in Group D.
10th OCT
Jinja SSS vs Mukono Warriors – Jinja Oval
In Group D, Mukono Warriors will make the trip to Jinja to face Jinja SSS at their home ground.
With four games remaining, Mukono Warriors will be looking to win all their matches to finish ahead of JACC and secure a place in the playoffs.
Jinja SSS, meanwhile, recorded a double victory against Africa CC last Sunday and will be hoping to carry that momentum into Saturday’s encounter.
Having picked up a win against GM Sugar last Sunday, Mukono Warriors know their qualification hopes remain in their hands.
They head to Jinja knowing that winning their remaining games will be crucial to their playoff ambitions.
11th OCT
Avengers vs Chennai – Entebbe Oval
In Group C, table-toppers Chennai will take on bottom-placed Avengers at Entebbe Oval.
Avengers lost both their opening games of the league to Kutchi Tigers B on 13th September, going down by nine runs and 13 runs.
They have no points from their two games and will be looking to bounce back to winning ways as they resume their campaign.
Chennai have played six games, winning five and losing one, to collect 10 points at the top of the table. Their only defeat came against Kutchi Tigers B.
The debutants will be looking to carry their momentum forward after beating Nile twice last Sunday, winning by seven wickets and 125 runs. With their maiden season campaign going well, Chennai will be targeting the ultimate prize, but their immediate focus will be on securing a place in the knockout stage.
Despite their difficult start this season, Avengers reached the semi-finals last year and will be hoping to make another strong push as the competition progresses.
JACC vs Iganga – Jinja Oval
In Group D, JACC will host Iganga CC at Jinja Oval in a crucial encounter for both sides.
JACC will be looking to win their remaining two group games as they hope to secure a playoff place. They will also be watching the results of Mukono Warriors and GM Sugar, whose performances could influence the final standings.
JACC sit second on the table with 10 points from eight games, while Iganga have six points from four matches, having won three and lost one against Africa CC.
Iganga still have six games remaining and, if they win all of them, they have a chance of finishing in the playoff places. However, their remaining schedule includes difficult fixtures against JACC, Mukono Warriors and GM Sugar.
Both sides will be looking for a positive result as the battle for qualification intensifies in Group D.
Mukono Development vs Pak Shaheens – Florida Oval
In Group B, two teams that struggled during Independence Day action will meet in a bottom-of-the-table clash at Florida Oval.
Mukono Development had a difficult outing, losing both games to SKLPS, while Pak Shaheens recorded one win and one defeat against Centurion.
Mukono Development are still searching for their first win of the season and have no points after playing four games.
Pak Shaheens, meanwhile, have won one of their four matches. Both teams still have a chance of pushing for a playoff finish and will be looking to collect maximum points from Sunday’s encounter to improve their positions in the group.
Ismaili vs Kifaru – GM Sugar Oval
In Group A, defending champions Ismaili return to action against Kifaru at GM Sugar Oval.
Ismaili made a strong start to their title defence, beating Kutchi Tigers twice on Day Two of the league.
They will be looking to continue their push for another UG20 title when they take on Kifaru.
Their mainstay captain, Riazat Ali Shah, will be available for the game, although they will be without opening bowler Juma Miyaji, who is in Zimbabwe for the NPL franchise.
Kifaru, on the other hand, have collected three points from four games, recording one win, two losses and one no result.
They had mixed results last Sunday, losing one game and winning the other against Aboojo. Having played at the same venue recently, Kifaru could benefit from their familiarity with the ground conditions as they look to challenge the defending champions.
GM Sugar vs ACC – New GM Sugar Oval
In Group D, Africa Cricket Club will travel to the new home of GM Sugar Cricket Club for their final two games of the UG20 campaign.
ACC will be looking to finish their season on a high after a difficult outing last Sunday, when they lost to Jinja SSS at home. Their only victory so far came against Iganga.
ACC remain at the bottom of the table and have no chance of progressing to the knockout stage, but they will be hoping to end their campaign with positive results.
GM Sugar, meanwhile, are top of Group D with 10 points from six games, having won five and lost one. Their only defeat came last Sunday against Mukono Warriors.
GM Sugar will be looking to bounce back from that loss and strengthen their position at the top of the group as the race for the playoff places continues.
