Cricket Uganda continued to champion athlete welfare, integrity, and proactive governance by engaging in a stakeholder review session for the inaugural Draft Strategic Plan of the National Anti-Doping Organisation Uganda (NADO-U) on Thursday, September 24th.
Cricket Uganda representatives Edgar Kazibwe (People, Culture and Communications Lead) and Physiotherapist Juuko Japheth participated in the session that commenced around 10:00 AM at the NADO-U offices on 3rd Street, Jinja Road.
The comprehensive session, which commenced around 10:00 AM, brought together key sports stakeholders to review NADO-U’s strategic direction for FY 2026/27 – FY 2029/30, ensuring that the framework robustly protects clean athletes and upholds international standards.
Key Contributions from Cricket Uganda
Cricket Uganda’s representatives brought vital interdisciplinary perspectives to the table, ensuring that the strategic plan reflects practical field realities:
Research Integration: PT Juuko Japheth submitted well-received proposals emphasising the critical requirement of incorporating research components into the strategic plan. His inputs highlighted the need for data-driven approaches to improve anti-doping practices, athlete tracking, and medical monitoring.
Holistic Athlete Welfare: Edgar Kazibwe contributed insights bridging communications, culture, and performance psychology, emphasising the importance of addressing psychological vulnerabilities, mental health, and comprehensive support systems alongside regulatory enforcement.
Reflecting on the session and the broader commitment to athlete development, Edgar Kazibwe noted:
“Protecting the integrity of our sport goes far beyond regulatory enforcement; it requires a holistic framework that actively supports our athletes’ mental health, incorporates robust research, and embeds education into every level of our development pathways.”
The feedback and collaborative proposals presented by the Cricket Uganda team were warmly welcomed by NADO-U leadership and attendees.
