Busoga College Mwiri hold nerve to edge Gairo in low-scoring thriller

Busoga College Mwiri displayed tremendous grit and defensive composure in the boys’ category to edge host side Gairo by 15 runs in a low-scoring thriller.

Eager to shake off their day 1 defeat, Mwiri found themselves under immediate pressure after being sent in to bat, collapsing to a precarious 26 for 5 against a sharp opening spell from Gairo’s Muhdhari Hassan (3/13).

DIGGING IN: High-stakes action at the crease as Busoga College Mwiri fought back against Gairo at the SUA Ground. Key middle-order contributions lifted Mwiri from a precarious 26/5 up to a defendable 74 all out.

However, lower-order resilience from Kisira Joshua (18 off 15 balls) and Lubangamiyo Barak (18 off 18 balls) rallied the team, lifting Mwiri to a defendable 74 all out in 15.2 overs.

Defending a total of 74 required an extraordinary team effort with the ball, and Mwiri’s unit delivered with laser precision.
