A brilliant middle-order recovery spearheaded by Robert Ajuna and a lethal five-wicket haul from Musinguzi Mathew powered the Victoria Strikers to a comprehensive 68-run victory over the Mburo Blasters in their Great Lakes Men’s T20 morning clash.
After choosing to bowl first on a crisp morning, Mburo Blasters’ skipper Fahad Mutagana initially looked vindicated.
Despite a flying 39-run opening stand between Simon Ssesazi and Perry Wazombe, spinner Yashashvi Joshi ripped through the top order.
Joshi removed Wazombe leg-before-wicket for 23, dismissed Kenneth Waiswa for a golden duck the very next ball, and later clean-bowled Christopher Kidega to finish with exceptional figures of 3 for 18.
However, Ssesazi anchored the innings with a brilliant 64 off 39 balls, hitting seven boundaries and three towering sixes.
Once Ssesazi departed, Robert Ajuna provided the late-innings fireworks, blasting a fierce 43 off just 21 deliveries, including three sixes.
Supported by a brisk 29 from Oloka Pius, Ajuna pushed the Strikers to an imposing total of 180 for 6 by the close of their 20 overs.
Faced with a demanding target of 181, the Mburo Blasters’ chase imploded almost immediately against a masterful spell from Musinguzi Mathew.

Coming into the attack, Musinguzi devastated the Blasters’ top and middle order, picking up a stunning 5 for 12 across his four overs.
He removed skipper Fahad Mutagana, Steven Wabwose, and Joshi in rapid succession, leaving the Blasters reeling at a disastrous 11 for 3 early in the power play.
Charles Musemeza offered a brief counter-attack with 29 off 18 balls, and Brian Asaba fought hard for his 33, but the pressure proved insurmountable.
Innocent Mwebaze injected late entertainment with a blazing 35 off just 13 balls, smashing four sixes to entertain the crowd briefly, but Jonathan Kiiza quickly wrapped up the tail to pick up 2 for 17.
With Hamid Munigwa unable to bat due to injury, the Blasters were bowled out for 112 in 15.2 overs, handing the Victoria Strikers a resounding and well-deserved victory.
