Day Four of the Great Lakes Men’s T20 at Lugogo Cricket Oval produced two important results as Kyoga Avengers strengthened their grip on top spot with an impressive chase against Mburo Blasters, while Victoria Strikers registered their first victory of the tournament after defeating Bunyonyi Warriors in the afternoon fixture.
Olipa Gerald powers Kyoga Avengers past Mburo Blasters
The morning clash saw tournament heavyweights Mburo Blasters post 155/7 after being sent in to bat by Kyoga Avengers.
Charles Musemeza led the charge with a well-played 54 off 38 balls, striking five fours and three sixes.
Suleman Sharif provided strong support with 41 from 30 deliveries, while Brian Asaba contributed 19 and Edwin Nuwagaba added 14.

Kyoga’s bowlers shared the wickets around, with Richard Agamire claiming two wickets, while Juma Miyaji, Dan Keith Amani and Olipa Gerald also made key breakthroughs to restrict Mburo to 155/7.
In reply, Kyoga Avengers recovered from the early loss of Ronald Lutaaya to produce another commanding chase.
Player of the Match Gerald Olipa set the tone with a blistering 48 off 27 balls, smashing seven fours and a six.
Robert Owili continued the momentum with 36 off 23 deliveries before Cyrus Kakuru anchored the innings with an unbeaten 28.
Captain Juma Miyaji then accelerated the chase with a quickfire 31 off just 15 balls, including four boundaries and two sixes, helping Kyoga reach 159/5 with 21 balls to spare.
The victory moved Kyoga Avengers further clear at the top of the standings with a perfect record after four matches.
Victoria Strikers secure first win of the tournament

Victoria Strikers finally got off the mark in the competition, claiming their first victory with a five-wicket win over Bunyonyi Warriors.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Bunyonyi Warriors were bowled out for 116 in 17.1 overs despite promising starts from several batters.
Robinson Obuya top-scored with 29 off 19 balls, while Simon Okecho struck 29 off 22 deliveries.
Paul Mulongo also contributed 16, but regular wickets prevented the Warriors from building meaningful partnerships.
Victoria’s bowling attack was led by Christopher Kidega and Pius Oloka, who both claimed three wickets.
Kidega finished with excellent figures of 3 for 10, while Oloka returned 3 for 9 from his four overs.
Chasing 117, Victoria Strikers made a positive start through Simon Ssesazi and Eric Mukisa before captain Kenneth Waiswa anchored the innings with 35 off 35 balls.

Christopher Kidega added a quick 15, while Pius Oloka capped an outstanding all-round display with an unbeaten 23.
Amos Ahurra struck the winning boundary as Victoria reached 120/5 in 16 overs.
Oloka Pius was named Player of the Match for his match-winning contribution with both bat and ball as Victoria Strikers celebrated their first win of the tournament.
