Day 12 of the Cricket Uganda Men’s 50-Over League delivered a full day of action across the Gold, Silver and Bronze categories, with international stars Kenya’s Brian Likavu and Rwanda’s former U19 standout Theoneste Hakuziyaremye stealing the spotlight.

Mukono Warriors CC outclassed Rounders CC in Entebbe, while JACC, GM Sugar, Soroti City CC and Pak Shaheens CC also registered comprehensive victories.

JACC produced a commanding all-round performance to dismantle Aboojo CC by 115 runs at Jinja SSS Cricket Ground, highlighted by a sensational debut bowling spell from Sowobi Yunus.

The innings began poorly for JACC after they were put into bat, as Aboojo struck early to reduce them to 38/4 inside the first 10 overs. The top order struggled to settle as Brian Asaba and Fortunate Alijuna applied early pressure with tight bowling.

However, JACC rebuilt through a crucial partnership in the middle order. Sadam Oyaga played a patient innings, scoring 33 off 82 balls, holding one end as wickets fell around him. The momentum shifted when Aloysius Odoi took charge with a powerful 62 off 50 balls, striking five boundaries and two sixes to revive the innings.

Despite further wickets, JACC reached a competitive 178 all out in 38 overs, with 36 extras also boosting their total.

Aboojo’s bowlers shared the damage, with Brian Asaba and Fortunate Alijuna both picking up 3 wickets each, while Zeid Badrudin chipped in with 2 wickets.

In reply, Aboojo CC collapsed under sustained pressure from JACC’s attack. The batting lineup never recovered from early strikes, with Ivan Thawithemwira top-scoring with 18 and Amos Ahura adding 16.

The standout moment came from debutant Sowobi Yunus, who delivered a devastating spell of 4/8 in 4 overs, completely dismantling the middle and lower order. Kenneth Waiswa also impressed with 2/4 as Aboojo were bowled out for 63 in 21.1 overs.

Mukono Warriors CC secured a solid 50-run victory over Rounders CC, powered by a commanding batting display anchored by Rwanda’s former U19 international Thoneste Hakuziyaremye.

Mukono Warriors began their innings steadily after winning the toss. The highlight was a composed and technically strong innings from Hakuziyaremye, who top-scored with 79 off 113 balls, striking five boundaries and holding the innings together from one end.

He was supported by Harish Anandhan, who played a fluent knock of 42 off 53 balls, rotating strike well and punishing loose deliveries. Alpesh Mepani and Robert Ajuna both added 18 runs each, ensuring stability in the middle order.

In the final overs, Mukono accelerated through Musa Majid Ramathan (19 off 14) and Jignesh Vekariya (10), pushing the total to a competitive 203/8 in 40 overs.

Rounders’ bowling effort was led by David L Mwesigwa, who returned figures of 3/38. Aman Preet Singh claimed 2/35, while Sohera Richard and Eddie Agaba picked up a wicket each.

In response, Rounders showed fight but lacked consistency in partnerships. Numan Mohammad led the scoring with 46 off 49 balls, while Mulongo Paul added a brisk 47 off 46 balls, keeping hopes alive during the chase.

However, Mukono Warriors’ bowling attack struck regularly to prevent any momentum shift. Hemant Hirani led the attack with 3 wickets, while Hakuziyaremye added to his all-round impact with 2 wickets. Musa Majid Ramathan also picked up 2 wickets, as Rounders were bowled out for 153 in 30.3 overs.

GM Sugar continued their strong form with a composed chase, led by a destructive innings from former Kenya U19 international Brian Likavu.

Ceylon Lions posted 175 all out in 44.5 overs after a steady but inconsistent batting effort. Perry Wazombe top-scored with 37 off 40 balls, while Ruwan Jayaratne added 34 and Ronald Omara contributed 22. Mathew Musinguzi chipped in with 26, but the Lions struggled to build long partnerships.

GM Sugar’s bowling attack shared the workload effectively, with Karan Patel, Bhavikkumar Patel, Dharmin Patel, and Rahulkumar Patel all picking up 2 wickets each, ensuring the Lions never fully accelerated.

In reply, GM Sugar initially lost early wickets, but the match turned with the arrival of Brian Likavu. The former Kenya U19 star produced a match-winning 54 off just 32 balls, striking 6 fours and 3 sixes in a blistering display of power hitting.

He shifted momentum instantly, putting pressure back on the bowlers and allowing GM Sugar to regain control of the chase. He was supported by Vinitkumar Patel (26), while Rahulkumar Patel remained unbeaten on 24. Karan Patel added a quick unbeaten 32 to finish the chase comfortably in 31.5 overs.

Ceylon Lions’ bowlers picked up a few wickets through Mathew Musinguzi (2), Perry Wazombe (2), and Johnson Okabo (1), but they had no answer to Likavu’s aggressive intent.

Soroti City CC produced a disciplined bowling display before completing a controlled chase to defeat Kutchi Tigers B.

Kutchi Tigers B struggled badly after electing to bat, collapsing to 83 all out in 44 overs. No batter managed to build momentum as Soroti’s bowlers dominated throughout.

Okiror Stephen led the attack with 3/13, while Jacob Malinga also claimed 3/19. Derrick  Bakunzi added 2/10, and Peter Ocen alongside Gideon Outeke chipped in with a wicket each.

Soroti City CC’s chase was steady but not without early hiccups. Wilfred Ogwang anchored the innings with an unbeaten 23, while Joel Epiangu (12) and Ronald Ebulu (10) supported the effort as they reached 84/6 in 20 overs.

Kutchi Tigers B’s bowlers fought back through Jignesh Pindoriya (3 wickets) and Varsani Bharat (2 wickets), but the target proved too low to defend.

Centurion A struggled from the outset and were restricted to 75/9 in 20.3 overs. Abaad Malik top-scored with 23 off 18 balls, while Aine Aaron added 13, but the rest of the batting lineup failed to cope with disciplined bowling.

Simon Okecho produced a devastating spell of 4 wickets in just 1.3 overs, while Raheel Sarwar added 3 wickets. Abdul Basit Habib and Yasir Malik chipped in with a wicket each.

In reply, Pak Shaheens CC made short work of the chase, reaching 76/2 in just 8.4 overs. Owili Robert led the charge with an unbeaten 38 off 24 balls, while Raheel Sarwar added a quick 28 off 18 balls to finish the game in style.

Centurion A’s only breakthroughs came from Abaad Malik, who picked up 2 wickets, but the total was far too small to defend.
