In a spirited Easter Monday social cricket match at the Lugogo Cricket Oval, Ssemakula’s XI edged out Kigozi’s XI by three wickets in a closely contested game that kept fans entertained.

Winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Ssemakula’s XI restricted Kigozi’s XI to a modest total of 121 runs.

Denis Musali top-scored with 33 runs, supported by Bob Felix Ndimwibo (15), Juma Gabula (12), and Daniel Batuwa (10).

 Kigozi’s captain, Leon Kigozi, managed just 4 runs.

On the bowling front, Rashid Mukasa alongside Sanduth led the charge with 2 wickets, while Allan Ssemakula and Amani Preet Singh contributed one wicket each.

Daniel Kakuru also made his mark in the bowling lineup with a wicket.

During the run chase, Jimmy Atuhaire and Amani Preet Singh scored 32 runs apiece, with Solomon Seremba adding 25 runs.

The match went down to the second-last ball, with Ssemakula’s XI holding their nerve to secure a thrilling three-wicket victory, despite 3 wickets from Leon kigozi.

Beyond the cricket, the day was a celebration of camaraderie and community spirit.

Both captains, Allan Ssemakula and Leon Kigozi, emphasized the importance of bringing together players over 35 who love the game, providing an opportunity to enjoy cricket in a relaxed and social environment.

Speaking after the game, Denis Musali, Honorable Secretary for Cricket Uganda and player for Kigozi’s XI, highlighted plans for an Over-35 Cricket League.

 Cricket Uganda is aiming to create a league for busy players who still want to enjoy cricket in a non-competitive setting.

The goal is to have at least one game each quarter to keep the community engaged,
