Matchday Five of the Cricket Uganda Men’s 50-Over League delivered a breakthrough round across the divisions, with several teams finally getting off the mark this season.

Ceylon Lions secured a dominant away victory over JACC in the Gold category, Mukono Warriors produced a commanding all-round display to defeat Aboojo CC, while in the Silver division, both Soroti City CC and Avengers CC registered their first wins of the campaign in convincing fashion.

Ceylon Lions delivered a dominant all-round performance to thrash JACC by 118 runs at Jinja SSS Cricket Ground, securing their first win of the season in style in the Gold category.

After electing to bat, Ceylon Lions posted 180 in 44.3 overs in a measured innings built on partnerships. Charles Musemeza led the way with a patient 44 off 95 balls, while Perry Wazombe provided early momentum with 33 off 35 deliveries.

Mathew Musinguzi anchored the lower order with an unbeaten 36, ensuring the Lions reached a competitive total despite regular wickets.

Kenneth Waiswa stood out for JACC with the ball, claiming 4/32, while Aloysius Odoi (3/28) and Sadam Oyaga (2 wickets) provided solid support.

In reply, JACC never recovered from early breakthroughs and were bundled out for just 62 in 24.2 overs. Patel Abhay top-scored with 21, while Ramathan Ochimi added 11 in an otherwise disappointing batting effort.

Perry Wazombe capped off a brilliant all-round performance with four wickets, while Mathew Musinguzi picked up three. David Eric Wabwire and Brighton Muganzi chipped in with a wicket each to seal a comprehensive win.

Mukono Warriors CC produced a commanding all-round display to defeat Aboojo CC by 78 runs at Serenity Group CG, securing their first win and valuable points in the Gold division.

After opting to bat, Mukono Warriors posted an imposing 206 in 31 overs.

Ronald Lutaaya led from the front with a fluent 67 off 67 balls, striking nine boundaries, while Fahad Mutagana set the tone early with 37 off 33 deliveries.

Gerald Olipa added 23, and Robert Ajuna contributed a quick 33 off 26 balls as the middle order accelerated the scoring.

Philemon Rwothomio was the standout performer for Aboojo CC with a five-wicket haul, while Joseph Baguma picked up three and Stephen Aliganyira claimed two.

In reply, Aboojo CC showed glimpses of intent but failed to build lasting partnerships. Brian Asaba top-scored with 32, while Amos Ahura made a quick 30 off 18 balls.

Fahad Mutagana completed a superb all-round performance with a brilliant five-wicket haul to dismantle the chase.

Musa Majid Ramathan picked up two wickets, while Hemant Hirani, Gerald Olipa and Robert Ajuna claimed one each to wrap up the innings for 128.

The match, reduced to 25 overs per side due to a wet outfield, still produced a competitive contest.

Batting first, Soroti City posted 137/9, with Derrick Bakunzi leading the charge through a superb unbeaten 46 off 30 balls, striking four fours and three sixes.

Hillary Kuteesa added 26, while Peter Ocen (21 off 19) and Jacob Malinga (12 off 4) chipped in with crucial contributions to lift the total.

Dipak Limbani impressed with the ball for SKLPS, returning figures of 3/24, while Gajpariya Rinkesh Ramesh picked up 2/9 in an economical spell.

In reply, SKLPS struggled to build momentum despite a few key contributions. Dinesh Manji Vekariya top-scored with 39, while Vishal Bandheri made 25 and Chetan Halai remained unbeaten on 18.

However, regular wickets proved costly as they were bowled out for 117 in 24.5 overs.

Jacob Malinga and Peter Ocen led the bowling effort with three wickets each, while Derrick Bakunzi and Juma Sururu picked up two apiece to seal a well-earned victory.

Avengers CC delivered a disciplined performance with both bat and ball to defeat Wanderers CC by 45 runs at Entebbe Cricket Ground, registering their first win of the season in the Silver division.

After electing to bat, Avengers posted 144 in 35.2 overs. Christopher Kidega led the way with a well-made 46 off 40 balls, while Timothy Kawanguzi added 26 at the top.

Atul Rana contributed 20 and Yashashvi Joshi chipped in with 13 to help Avengers reach a competitive total.

Eric Mukisa was the standout bowler for Wanderers with 4/30, while Anderson Waiswa and Ivan Kakande picked up two wickets each.

In reply, Wanderers struggled to gain any momentum as wickets fell at regular intervals. Okema Julius scored 22 and Mandeep Singh added 20, but the rest of the lineup failed to fire.

Yashashvi Joshi produced a match-winning spell, claiming six wickets to dismantle the Wanderers batting order. Hariom Dudharejiya supported with two wickets, while Solomon Otim added one as Wanderers were bowled out for 99.
