Entebbe, Uganda – Cricket Uganda hosts the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Division 2 Qualifier from March 8 to 14 at the scenic Entebbe Cricket Oval, bringing together some of Africa’s brightest young cricket talents.

The week-long tournament will feature five nations – Cameroon, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique and Sierra Leone – battling for two qualification spots to the next stage of the continental pathway, the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier, which will be staged later this year in Tanzania.

The Africa Qualifier will, in turn, determine the teams that advance to the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2027, set to be jointly hosted by Bangladesh and Nepal.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Evelyn Kabongerwa Shinyekwa, CEO of Cricket Uganda and the Local Tournament Coordinator, said Uganda is proud to stage an event that promotes the growth of women’s cricket in Africa.

“We are honoured to welcome Africa’s future stars to Entebbe. Hosting this qualifier is not only a privilege but also a chance to showcase Uganda’s growing cricket culture. We believe this tournament will inspire more young girls to take up the sport and strengthen the pathway for women’s cricket across the continent.”

The matches will be played in a single round-robin format, with each team facing the other once across 10 games during the week-long competition.

Broadcast and live scoring

All matches will be streamed live on the official Cricket Uganda YouTube channel, enabling fans across the region to follow the action from Entebbe.

Live scores, match reports and tournament updates will also be available on the International Cricket Council website at icc-cricket.com.
