The Blasters capped off a remarkable 15-day journey in Entebbe by lifting the MAXX T20 Challenge Cup, following a near-flawless campaign that showcased resilience, smart leadership, and collective brilliance.

After stumbling only once—an opening-game loss to the Warriors—the Blasters bounced back emphatically, never looking back as they won their remaining nine matches to finish champions.

On paper, the Blasters may not have been the most star-studded side, but what truly set them apart was inspired captaincy from Kenneth Waiswa.

His leadership was defined by trust in young players, clever rotation, and an ability to shuffle his squad effectively to manage workloads while keeping the team competitive throughout the demanding double round-robin format.

Every player felt involved, and that unity translated into consistent performances on the field.

Fielding and discipline became hallmarks of the Blasters’ success.

They limited extras, protected the boundary well, and maintained pressure through sharp, athletic fielding.

While the Gladiators may have set the gold standard in the field, the Blasters were not far behind, delivering an impressive all-round effort.

Their bowling discipline further complemented this, regularly restricting opposition totals and forcing mistakes at crucial moments.

At the heart of their batting was Simon Ssesazi, who enjoyed the form of his life.

Calm, composed, and consistent, Ssesazi emerged as the tournament’s leading run-scorer, amassing 316 runs in 10 innings at an average of 31.6 and a strike rate of 121.07.

His performances earned him the accolade of Best Batter of the Tournament and provided the backbone for many of the Blasters’ victories.

The bowling attack was equally potent, led by the outstanding Mathew Musinguzi.

Tasked with bowling in the powerplay, Musinguzi delivered match after match, finishing as the second-highest wicket-taker of the tournament.

He claimed 17 wickets in nine innings at a remarkable average of 3.27, with breathtaking best figures of 5 for 7 in four overs—one of the standout performances of the competition.

The Blasters’ path to the title was a story of steady growth and growing confidence.

After the opening 15-run loss to the Warriors, they responded with authority, thrashing the Strikers by 86 runs and edging past the Royals by five wickets via the D/L method.

Victories over the Gladiators (by 24 runs) and the Titans (by 34 runs) followed, before they avenged their only defeat by beating the Warriors by six wickets.

Further wins against the Strikers (five wickets) and a dominant 46-run triumph over the Royals underlined their bowling strength.

Narrow but crucial victories against the Gladiators (by three runs) and the Titans (by 23 runs) showcased their composure under pressure.

At the end of the tournament, the Blasters stood proudly at the top of the table with 18 points from 10 matches—nine wins and just one loss.

It was a campaign built on belief, balance, and brilliance, and the MAXX T20 Challenge Cup title was a fitting reward for a team that grew stronger with every game
