Elephants defeated Bulls by 11 runs
The Batball X Jinja T10 final delivered all the drama, tension, and unexpected twists fans could hope for.
At the Jinja SS Cricket Oval, the Elephants clawed their way to a hard-fought victory, defeating the Bulls by 11 runs in a gripping, low-scoring contest that kept spectators on edge until the very last ball.
A Modest Total That Meant Much More
Winning the toss, the Bulls opted to bowl first—an aggressive decision aimed at applying early pressure. And it worked.
The Elephants struggled to build momentum on a challenging surface, losing wickets at key intervals. Their innings finished at 69/6 in 10 overs, a total that looked modest on paper but carried hidden value given the pitch conditions.
Runs were hard to come by, timing was inconsistent, and both sides knew that defending or chasing 70 on this track would require discipline and nerve.
Bulls Collapse in a Nerve-Shredding Chase
Chasing 70, the Bulls’ innings started in disarray. Geofrey Kakaire fell for a duck, signalling the start of a collapse that would define the match.
The Elephants’ bowlers were relentless—mixing tight lines with clever variations that forced error after error.
In the midst of the chaos, Dan Keith Amani stood tall. His composed 13 off 15 balls, featuring two crisp boundaries, briefly steadied the Bulls’ ship. Amani’s fighting knock earned him the Player of the Match award, a rare honour for a player on the losing side.
But support never came.
Run-outs cut down any brewing momentum. Spin applied suffocating pressure. Dot balls piled up.
The Bulls crawled to 51/8 in 10 overs, falling short by 11 runs in a final where every single run felt priceless.
Road to the Final: Upsets and Dominance
The path to the championship match was anything but predictable.
Elephants stamped their authority in the semifinals, cruising past the Rhinos by eight wickets, showing early signs of the discipline that would win them the title.
But the shock of the tournament came from the Bulls, who—despite finishing bottom in the double round-robin—stunned the unbeaten Leopards. Chasing 87, the Bulls produced a spirited performance to win by five wickets in 9.5 overs, booking an improbable place in the final.
In the third-place playoff between the Leopards and the Rhinos, the Leopards delivered a composed performance to claim victory by 13 runs, sealing a satisfying rebound after their semifinal disappointment.
The stage was set for an underdog story, but ultimately, the Elephants’ consistency and composure delivered the trophy.
What’s Next?
The action continues soon.
Entebbe will host the Batball Max Qualifier which will run from 7th to 21st December, followed shortly by the anticipated Batball Max main event. If the Jinja edition is anything to go by, fans can expect more drama, surprises, and explosive cricket.
The Elephants may have lifted the title, but the true winner was the spectacle—proof once again that in T10 cricket, no total is too small, no match is predictable, and no moment lacks excitement.
